  • I love the submariner look so the Steinhart Ocean 1, Mako XL, Invicta types seem appealing right now.
  • Metal chain-link (dunno what it's called) or leather band? Personal pref?

So, any other good suggestions?
If the word "clubbing" is something you write without sarcastic, condescending quotes around it, get your watch on a bracelet without thinking twice about it.
I'm all about straps but if I'm hanging out with people under 25, girls Tweeting from pink iPhones, or Jagerbros, it's bracelet all day erry day. Hashtag swag.

http://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en/gent...-sub/H78615135 is a good choice, prob a little more than $500 but f it.

For the love of God, don't get an Invicta. $800 minus some depreciation >>>>>>>> $300 for a broken watch in six months.

That hamilton looks foine.

My thing w/ metal bands is they seem ultra annoying whenever they move. Grabbing all the hairs with them and such. Big deal or no? My arms are fairly hairy so it may annoy me too much to even wear out regardless of how infrequent it may be. Obv don't have that problem with a strap.

Then get a strap. Or get both.

Maybe I'm just used to it and don't notice, but I don't have that problem with my watches. I'm not George Steele levels of hirsute, but there's definitely some fur on the arms.

+1
I used to have that problem, and now I don't. Maybe wear it for a while and decide. In any case, adding a strap to a watch is a really easy, no-big-deal process.

Buying the factory bracelet for a watch because you bought it with a strap instead like a dummy? Breitling - $2,000, IWC - same Rolex - prob something like $300,000.

I have super hairy arms and I've never had a problem with bracelets grabbing. I think this is probably only an issue with like super cheapass folded-link bands you get on watches that come in cracker jack boxes.

That's got to be for the old flip-lock clasp, right? The glidelock clasp probably costs like $3k.

I've always found bracelets to be more comfortable than both leather and rubber straps. I don't even know why.

I grunge up straps in the summer. Bracelets in the heat for me.

I got given a Stuhrling skelly automatic about 6 months ago and not only has it currently kept better time than most of my Japanese movements, its has survived six months of on/off rugged wear intact, and also drawn more comments from attractive women than any other watch I have owned.

Obv you can't respond much because who in this thread wants to bang - let alone date - a woman who doesn't know a Stuhrling from a Christiaan van der Klaauw, but the overall point remains valid: if you're a very shallow person with no money and you're lucky enough to get one that doesn't break within a month then you may have actually got something reasonable.

Just got given this watch as a random gift from a model in the US who I do some video work for. She said she was sending me a G-Shock, and I assumed it would be one of the cheaper ones.. I was a bit surprised when I opened the box:

MTG-1500-1AER

I haven't worn a watch for years - was thinking of getting a Movado when I finally do look at purchasing one. But anyway, I will probably wear this as it seems pretty nice. What are people's thoughts on this watch?

It's a great watch from a technical point of view, and as you're a photog, this could probably be a fantastic everyday watch for you. Just don't wear it with a suit.

Cool, cheers. And re: wearing with a suit, is that because it's too 'sporty'?

Well yeah, basically. You can certainly get away with it, especially with that particular piece, I see people wearing g-shocks with suits quite a bit (unfortunately).

Receive this as a gift, liking it a lot, and cannot wait to add to form a collection (I'm sure viewed as more of a starter in this thread)

There's gotta be something wrong with this Omega Seamaster to be so cheap right?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-MENS-S...6115cf81e#shId

Also stopped by an Omega boutique yesterday in SoCal. Tried on a few Seamaster Aqua Terra's. Most hover around the $4800-$5400 range brand new. They offer 1 year no interest financing. I got the salesman's card and told him I might contact him around Xmas and buy myself a nice 30 yr old bday gift.

Eitherway I tried a few on and they are ****ing awesome!

In general, do Omega's hold their value like Rolex? But I feel Rolex are too common and/or have a greater "look at me" factor.

I'm sure I could find a datejust for ~5k as well.

Every time you wear that watch God kills a kitten.

I'm not saying banish the person who bought this for you from your life, but you do need to punish them drastically.

It's a quartz?

A quick browse showed threads on forums selling/sold it anywhere from $900-$1k.

It's quartz, that's about right for a used piece in that condition IMO.

no.

FWIW, Rolexes don't "hold their value" like most people think they do, but they hold more than Omegas. Unless you're looking to flip pretty regularly, though, this shouldn't matter to you.
