This needed to be done before he died.

voting Rose into the HOF now is like moving bodies between graveyards
could have happened when the celebrated person was still around to bask in the reverence
but it didn't
and they chose that

Dikembe Mutombo far too young at 58. Not only a hell of a player, but his personality, advocacy, and generosity was a model.

And now with Fan Duel and the like, anybody can bet on anything at any time.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Rose ever bet on his team to lose.

So on the days he didn't bet on the Reds, he put in the shitty pitchers and gave the stars an off day?

I'm not a big "integrity of the Game" guy, but Rose should never be in the HOF. His on the field performance is in the record books. That's all he gets.

I know the reasons for keeping him out, but now that he's dead, put him in there with Joe Jackson.

The great Luis Tiant. I saw him pitch at Fenway in the first time I was there. During his windup, he would look away from the plate, sometimes to dead center. Years later I ran into him at the local grocery store where he was signing books. A real gentleman and snazzy dresser.

He was a great baseball player in all aspects of the game. Full tilt all the time. He should be in the HOF. But the sycophantic moralizing crybabies will do everything they can to still keep him out.

I loved that crazy windup. On a related note, the Red Sox Jose Iglesias is having a great post season. For the Mets.

Liam Payne, 31

Former member of super boy band One Direction, Payne died after falling from a 3rd floor hotel balcony in Argentina.

What a stupid way to die so young.

watching the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction show, and I've got tears rolling down my face as Dave Mathews plays "A Pirate Looks At 40" and James Taylor talks about Jimmy Buffett, with Jimmy's family in the audience.

Can't believe I'm never going to see See Buffett in concert again. If you can love a person without ever actually meeting them, I loved Jimmy Buffett.

Saw him pitch live once (in the Astrodome). Loved that crazy windup. Hope Dodgers win the series for him!

in 1981 Vin Sculley narrated the televised windup of a lefthanded rookie screwballer pausing at the peak of his delivery to up look toward heavens above as if requesting divine intervention with the low and away strike
today we catch up with them both

I stumbled on a blurb but didn't pay much attention so I might be wrong, but I saw that Tarzan died.

Well, Ron Ely.
