Just brutal. Lou Brock along with Gibson exemplified everything great about those 60s Cardinal teams, and then they held things together thru some pretty lean 70s years too, with help from Ted Simmons. Brock was always so cool, total class, carried himself with such style and dignity. He seemed superhuman.

Mike was a class act. He was always kind and funny and just an all around class act. RIP

What a bummer about Mike. I've been sleeping to nonstop WPT episodes at night the last several weeks.

He was so fast. He was as much fun to watch as Wills, or later, Henderson. I think he did as much to revive the lost art of base stealing as anybody did.

He and Gibson were the two from those Cards that I will never forget.

Class act is right. I used to play mix with him every summer and there was nothing phony about him -- he was the real deal. I still think his TOC format was the best poker tournament format ever invented.

Lou made me think of that '85 Cardinals team with MVP Willie McGee and RoY Vince Coleman.

Willie stretching out a triple was pure grace, and Vince disrupting things with just the thread of his speed. love a guy that doesn't wear gloves while batting and puts them on to steal.

Brock may have been the fastest guy out of the box I've ever seen. Where right handers would be standing there wondering if they hit the ball, Lou would be halfway down the line.

A Lou Brock drag bunt was a thing of beauty.

Another thing I remember, the almost reverential tone that Cardinal broadcaster and former teammate Mike Shannon used to use when talking about him.

Diana Rigg, 82...

British actress, gorgeous model, The Avengers, Game Of Thrones, and Mrs. James Bond.

She was simply amazing.

I guessed that was Lady Olenna on GoT. If not for that role I wouldn't be aware of her, but she was great in it.

Diana Rigg was the greatest. Emma Peel was the sexiest woman that's ever been on TV

I had no idea at all that was Diana Rigg until I read this.

When they first announced that Marvel monstrosity, I thought: Cool, who's gonna play Diana Rigg?

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, associate justice of the US Supreme Court, dead at age 87 on September 18, 2020. In the Spring of 1975, she spoke to my law school class, a very small group, and I met her and spoke with her. She had a great stage presence.

RIP Gale Sayers

He was the running back of my youth and the guy that really got me interested in football. They called them halfbacks back then. He was shifty and fast and if modern medical treatments were available back then would have put up monster career numbers. Pull up some of his highlights on youtube. The guy was special.

Although I only was able to see Sayers play every so often (we got the Giants games), he was amazing.

One of the first sports heroes I remember...my Dad loved him. Had a poster on my wall. Later, cried like a baby watching Brian's Song.

RIP

Road Warrior Animal, dead at 60. Seems like Hawk has already been gone a dozen years or so.

RIP to Sayers. I should watch Brian's Song. I saw it when it premiered on tv, but I was probably in 6th grade or so.

I had to think about this for a minute, then realized there are plenty of people who had never seen Sayers play. Jesus Veiled Christ he was fast. His ability to cut didn't look human.

Thinking some more, there are plenty of people who have never know the Chicago Bears to be a fearsome team--where the main goal when playing them was not to win, but to survive. They were the alpha black and blue team of what would become the Black and Blue Division. RIP Gale.
