Don Larsen, Yankees pitcher, dead at age 90, on Wednesday, January 1, 2022, at Hayden Lake, Idaho. I remember listening to his perfect game on the radio.

I ran home from school that day and caught the last out on TV. Bitter experience. I don't know which was worse, the Bums losing or my big sister gloating. Then next spring it was announced that the Dodgers would move to L.A.

It's good to learn about despair and betrayal at such an early age. People who learn later have a much harder time with it.

The date was a typographical error. Here's a corrected copy:

Sam Wyche died, head coach for the Bengals and Tampa Bay back in the 80s. Smart, had a few interesting quirks, wasn't all bland like they all are today. Pretty good coach, had been a protege of Bill Walsh iirc. Almost won a Super Bowl in fact!

He was amazing, comic genius, really a singular presence and vitally important to the entertainment culture from the 60s thru the 80s. Always deadpan, and now dead. RIP Buck!
