Ken Stabler died, 69. As a huge Raiders fan growing up, Stabler was like a god to me. He should already be in the Hall of Fame. No NFL qb has ever been better in the clutch. Won 1 Super Bowl but coulda easily have won 2 or 3 with a few breaks. RIP Snake
My Dad was a big fan of KS. I was more like, I don't like you if you're not on my team, but I do have a little inherited soft spot here.
Dick van Patten, 86. Perpetually cheery TV dad. RIP
I seem to remember him as a villian in some Disney movie.

RIP Kenny.
I remember when Oakland traded him for Dan Pastorini of Houston and then the Kansas City Chiefs treated Pastorini like a turkey drumstick.

Reason: Houston being the Oilers back then. Now they are the Titans from TN.

Pro sports is show biz, and Stabler was as fun to watch as anybody I have ever seen. Never a Raiders fan, but always rooted for them when he was on the field.
That kid's name was Moe Greene, and the city he invented was Las Vegas. This was a great man, a man of vision and guts. And there isn't even a plaque, or a signpost or a statue of him in that town!

At one time there was a plaque to Bugs Siegel at the Flamingo.
I don't know how he got the name, but what comes to mind is sticky fingers for thief. Probably from when he was a kid. When I knew him he was a professional gambler.
