He was also a great catcher. Berra won 10 World Series with the Yankees and played in 75 World Series games. And he caught in that famous WS perfect game pitched by Don Larsen.

"So I'm ugly. I never saw anyone hit with his face".

Yogi was awesome. He had a restaurant in NJ that my father would take us to every now and then...he signed my mitt when I was in little league. He also offered me a cigar, but my Dad took it.

That reminds me of seeing Lenny Kravitz on the Arsenio Hall Show promoting his hit song It Ain't Over Til It's Over. Arsensio asked Kravitz where he got the idea, and that ******* acted like he thought it up himself, didn't even mention Yogi. Still makes me mad just thinking about it.

kioshk, I know you are a big Ball Four fan like I am. The "Harmonica Incident" with Phil Linz is probably my favorite Yogi story.

Quote:
Through Jim Bouton's book Ball Four, he may be best known for the so-called "Harmonica Incident," on August 20, 1964. On the team bus, after a Yankee loss to the Chicago White Sox, Linz was in the back playing a plaintive version of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" on his harmonica. Yankee manager Yogi Berra thought the sad cowboy style mixed with a children's nursery rhyme was mocking the team. He told Linz to pipe down. Linz didn't hear and kept playing. Berra became infuriated and called back from the front of the bus, "If you don't knock that off, I'm going to come back there and kick your ass." Linz couldn't hear the words over the music, so he asked Mickey Mantle, "What he say?" Mantle responded, "He said to play it louder." This led the famous confrontation when Berra stormed to the back of the bus, slapped the harmonica out of Linz' hands, and the instrument hit Joe Pepitone's knee.[

Wallander books I highly recommend btw. Troubled loner detective solves crimes and eats sandwiches. You get to learn about Sweden too! And I'm tough to please when it comes to novels that aren't American or British.

Paul Prudhomme, celebrity chef, dead at 75 on October 8, 2015. For a short time, he almost singlehandedly wiped out the Gulf redfish population.

His face is on some seasoning we use.

I will pour out a 40 and his seasoning later.

He outlived his doppelganger, Dom DeLuise. That's something. Popularized Cajun food too, not too shabby.

I've watched a few of the Wallander mysteries on Netflix, mostly just to take in the beautiful Scandinavian backdrops.

There are three Wallander series, two Swedish and one BBC, all with subtitles and all, generally, excellent.

The lovely Maureen O'Hara has died, with that red hair of hers. Made many classic westerns with John Wayne, not to mention The Quiet Man.

When I think of Maureen O'Hara, in addition to The Quiet Man, Miracle on 34th Street is one of the first movies that come to mind for me.
