'75 must have been a heart breaker for you. It was one of the best World Series of my lifetime from a purely baseball point of view. But you must have loved '76 when they destroyed the Yanks in 4 games.

(My high school buddies, who I talk with every day during the playoffs, are referring to this year's series as the "Stanley Cup of Baseball".)

Hell, I'm still celebrating 2004.

Amazing how many people think the Sox won in '75 with that Fisk homer.

At least they remember who Fisk was. They also forget that Bernie Carbo's homer made it all possible.

not many know that Fisk's homerun was an accident of TV production/directing. The only reason the live shot was on Fisk as he was going down the first base path was because the director made a mistake - usually, the camera would follow the ball flight or be a wider shot of the whole field.

But the camera following Fisk as he gestured for the ball to stay fair is the image everyone has of that WS. And it was an accident.

Same here.

And if anyone thinks that they've had a bad 2020, you've got nothing on Conchata Ferrell. She was hospitalized in December for a kidney infection, which spread to her bloodstream. In May, a heart attack put her in intensive care for four weeks. She was then moved to long-term care, remaining on a respirator and on dialysis until her death. Here's the complete NYT obit:

About ten years ago I flew into SF airport and took the BART train into the city. Sitting across from me was Joe Morgan, looking quite dapper, wearing his World Series ring.

Damn '75 World Series.
Everyone talks about the Big Red Machine, but '75 Red Sox had quite the lineup as well: Fisk, Lynn, Rice, Evans, Yaz, Cooper, etc.

shame that Rice wasn't able to play in the series.

six HOFers in the 75 series
Yaz
Fisk
Bench
Morgan
Perez
Sparky (manager)
Rice would have made it seven.

Not to mention Rose who had hall of fame career followed by a hall of shame incident that kept him out.

I saw Randi live one time when he performed at my college back in the early 70's. His main thing that night was hanging by his feet in a straight jacket and escaping.

He was like the Atheist Houdini I suppose. Seemed like a smart good-natured guy though, always good on talk shows. I'm more of a Houdini fan and a God man myself.

I don't know how much impact he had everywhere else but in Texas he was one of the most iconic singer songwriters that we knew of.

Hoping he's gone home with the armadillo.....
