Has anyone else noticed that a lot of people overestimate their height? People my height will often tell me theyre 6' but I'm about 5'10". Maybe its a psychological thing.

Height is a pretty big deal in human nature. At least for guys. Though it's pretty dumb when you're 5'10" to tell someone else who is 5'10" that you are 6'0" tall. That just insults both of your intelligences. Unscrupulous folk like that probably have many other flaws which keep them from attracting women. But they'll blame their 70-inch-ness, instead. A 5'10" man shouldn't feel inadequate about being that height.

Absolutely. When I was 16 and got my drivers license for the first time, I put down that I was 5 10' when I really 5 9'. Looking back it cracks me up because the last thing I was was insecure.

If you look at dating websites the most common minimum height that women put down is 5 10, ainec. I think that's the case because while they'd really be perfectly happy with anyone ~5 8'+ (in most cases, obviously some prefer 6ft+ or whatever), they know that guys tend to exaggerate their height and they compensate for that.

my current gf and I met online and my site said 5'7 (which is accurate afaik)...she told me later on that she probably wouldn't have replied if she had read that before meeting me...hmmmmm...she is 5'8...

People never stop doing this however tall they get, I've had people tell me they were 200 cm when I was 200 cm when it was like obviously atleast a inch difference

celebheights.com is a pretty neat website where a guy lists a bunch of famous peoples' heights. Most of it is based upon speculation or comments from the celeb. The main guys are both 5'8" and they get their pics taken with all kinds of celebs and guess their height.

Some heights are surprising. Like Jennifer Love Hewitt is only 5'2" and Eddie Vedder 5'8" (yet Chris Cornell is 6'3")

5'7" here... yea it's pretty short, but it's not actually too bad. I find that I'm a lot more physically coordinated than a lot of the tall people I've played sports with. Also it's obv super easy to find clothes and legroom (cars, planes, whatever) is never an issue. My dad's my height and my mom is 5'3" or so, so I suppose I came out about as best I could. I think if I could choose to be any height, I'd probably pick 5'10-11 or so.

i'm 6'2" and natural big build (260ish). I am happy with my size; though sometimes i am borderline to big to fit into some vehicles. clothes are no problem. i dont understand why some people say they cant find shoes, i wear size 14 and have no problem finding them.

i have never felt real tall/big though, where i am from it is mostly scandi/northern european decent and the average guy here is 6' and 220lbs. + this is the standard size for guys in my family for the last 3 generations.

I think you answered your own question. I only wear a size 12 and the options are limited. Most people don't live in a city where the average man is 6'0" 220.

6 Foot 9 and about 90KGs (~200 pounds I think).

On balance I think I'm OK being this tall but def wouldn't want to be any taller. I often hit my head on stuff (seriously) and It makes driving most cars a bitch.

Also at concerts people get pissed because I block their view and I have to endure constant "jokes" and stupid questions (****, your tall bro how tall are you?) from randoms on the street.

But it helps for sports and with girls, so no complaints here.

5'7" and exactly the same as Noah, I'm surprised when I realized I am a few inches shorter than others I have known forever - I just feel the same height. Never really effected me in a way that bothered me. Dating range of women (ancient history now) - 4'10" to 6'1" - wife is 5'3".

I think I'm 5'6.

After reading this thread I went through the day overly conscious of everyone else's height. I did happen to notice that there are guys who are shorter than me which is cool, and plenty of women who are taller (not so cool). Oh well, I will probably stop noticing this tomorrow.

I think if one has significant problems with their height it represents to some extent a failure in his/her ability to cope with life. Unlike most features, height is permanent so after a certain point one's only option is to accept it for what it is. And of course, there are some benefits to being short. I've grown quite fond of fitting nicely into tight places.
