Capturing the Friedmans
La La Land
35 Shots of Rum
Syndromes and a Century
White Material

oh my god I don't have access to the spreadsheet right now but if somehow no one drafted

Spoiler:
inglorious basterds

it will invalidate this whole draft.

it might be the greatest original screenplay ever and for sure one of my all time fav films.

pls tell me I just got sniped and am having a brain fart and not that somehow we all forgot to take it I refuse to believe that's possible.

Was taken in round 4.

And I have a feeling that if this draft was done in a couple of weeks time, there would probably be another QT movie getting drafted.

Yep, just that one, but it will be the next movie I watch. Going away for a week tomorrow and won't have time to watch it before then, but I'll watch it when I get back for sure.

I think you'll really enjoy those 2 movies.

My 15th pick is my favorite from this century: In This Corner of the World, a slowly developed story of an obscure place and time. I don't think it would be of much interest to the general viewer.

I could have gone on for a lot more. Off the top of my head, here are movies I assumed I would get around to picking if nobody sniped them...

District 13
Ratatouille
The Tower
No
American Sniper
The Wind Rises
Ong-Bak
Shaolin Soccer
2046
Spirited Away

I almost picked Pistol Opera, but I didn't want anybody to watch it as their first Suzuki film.

I also considered a number of films by Michael Winterbottom and Ben Wheatley.

Sorry I was absent for so long, but life.

My remaining picks before I check any spoilers:

The Neon Demon

This is one of those movies that you could study for a course and write an English paper about. It's full of symbolism, motifs, metaphors and all the other stuff that goes on behind the scenes. But that's not why I like it. It's moody and it's dark and it takes its time. I enjoy watching it.

Out of the Furnace

Look at that picture and the way it's constructed. It's a B movie right? Except it has Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harelson and Forest Whitaker. It is a total B movie in its success.

Before you write it off, look at this image and give it a chance. It's dark, very well acted, got a good story and gripped me from start to finish. You don't have to suspend your disbelief at any point. The hero doesn't make miraculous recoveries or escapes when things look dark. Good characters don't get rewarded for being good and bad characters don't get their comeuppance just for being bad. It's not a morality tale. It's far more realistic than that which you can't say for a lot of B movies.

Snowpiercer

I love this movie. I think it's a great premise well executed. It's a bit bonkers but I can believe the world that they're in. It's formulaic in the way that it's "get the the front of the train, the bad guys keep on coming, the good guys get fewer and fewer" but I don't care. It's done well enough to keep me interested and there's a few twists and turns along the way.

It's a bit on the dark side, but if you're ok with that then give it a watch.
