Thoughts on this suit?

http://www.hickeyfreeman.com/index.c...-a0c75db55830/

This will be my first real suit, so is it too much of a risk ordering it online and then taking it to a tailor?

I'm 6'2, 200 lbs w/ 44 inch chest and 32 inch waist. The website says that unless otherwise noted, they have a 6 inch drop from jacket to waist size, which would mean that the pants they send will have a 38 inch waist. Is there not a way I can order custom size pants? I assume even the best tailor couldn't turn a 38 inch waist into a 32.

The hickey freeman suit I tried fit pretty big FYI. I don't know if I'd go for a striped suit for my first suit, but others will be more knowledgable about that than me. If there is a return policy, what's the risk? If it's final sale, I wouldn't risk it. Very good chance it won't be right for you. You could always turn it on ebay or styleforum for not much of a loss, but that is such a hassle...

Why don't you ask them about the pants? You definitely don't want to go that far off your size.

Agree with sly on both points. Hickey Freeman fit large on me compared to other slim brands in the same size - particularly in the shoulders/chest.

Also agree that you should try to get a solid pattern for your first suit - preferably navy or charcoal.

Total fashion noob here. Picked these shoes up today. Really like them, but was wondering if I can wear them with shorts. Thoughts?

what brands would you say are good for bigger guys who like to dress well? i know the general tips of vertical stripes and stuff, but when I go off the rack, the XL's and XXL's are never there. Button downs/polos/dark washed jeans are what I generally wear, but as a young professional, work clothes are a little tricky with the big man style. My work is traditional button downs with slacks and the standard black or brown shoe. I'm looking to expand my wardrobe but don't really know what my next step should be

I meant you can't wear them with anything. they should be returned. whatever you paid for them is too much.

they would be fine without the Timberland branded back section in contrasting leather, and less...ugly sole

find something like this instead

so.... what's your opinion on shorts (for men)?
my eyes would hurt much less if shorts were forbidden.

I mostly agree but unfortunately if you live somewhere hot shorts are a necessity in some spots

I wouldn't personally ever wear cargo shorts but I typically rock either Supergas or a Driving Shoes (both with loafer socks so it looks like I am sockless) with khakis shorts if I am not wearing Rainbows.

Non-baggy shorts that hit above the knee

How long should men's jeans be? I've tried on some slim fit straight Levis and I don't know whether I need 32 or 34 length.

On the 32 length the jeans cover my shoes fine when I'm standing but when I sit down the jeans come up a little and sometimes my socks show. Is this supposed to happen?

34 length fixes that problem but the jeans just looked a little too bunched up at the bottom when I'm standing.

Which length should I go with?

34 then take them to a tailor. Tho your description of the 32 sounds about where you'd want them to be

Should I get the saddle leather grey or the saddle leather olive? I've seen the grey in person, but not the olive. I'm really stuck here. Would mostly be wearing dark jeans with them.

Grey:

Olive:

Have the same problem w my pants. I think it's okay for a little sock to show rather than pants bunching up at the bottom.

Another thing about 34 length, when I don't have shoes on the jeans go over my foot and drag on the floor, this isn't a good sign good right? The 32's come just about to the floor with my shoes off.

Basically I just hate how when I sit the jeans come up off my shoe a little bit and was wondering if they are supposed to do that or not.
