Man Trophy Room near me has really blown up lately. Didn't think it would survive, as it's not really great in any specific way.

Beers for $3 on Tuesday's though. You never see that in RN at a non dive bar

I thought the original was overrated (don't kill me), was good just not great.

Have been to the FM location a few times and get take out a decent amount as well. Have only done the tacos since I thought the sando's were meh. Def worth going imo, cecina taco (cured steak) is my personal favorite

The original was good, I went to the new one on Friday, total opposite of the original location. Sucks they don't have burritos as that's what I had a taste for. Sandwiches had a lot more cheese than I remember, I had to knock half off

Anybody have an idea of either A) a good place to rent a nicer tuxedo, or B) a good place to buy a nicer tuxedo for a reasonable price?

Trying to avoid both the general tuxedo rental places, and stuff like Neiman Marcus where just a jacket is ~2k.

Does Nordstrom Rack sell tuxes?

Otherwise, Macy's usually has a bunch of offers available with online deals or credit card registration, so if you are creative, you can stack them together for some great prices.

I was able to buy all my groomsman suits (along with my own) for nearly half off by doing this.

Edit: Took a quick look at /r/frugalmalefashion and found some threads you may find useful: http://www.reddit.com/r/frugalmalefa...restrict_sr=on

I have never seen tuxes on sale at the handful of Nordstrom Racks I've been too within the city/suburbs. Never asked though.

Has anybody been to the new Chicago Fire Facility? Looking to sign up for an indoor soccer league and would like to hear about the place before I do.

Yeah from what I can tell most of these places have the same standard tux styles/lines. Pretty much a rotating cast of around 8-9 fairly average quality. Kind of frustrating, from what I can tell there are very few (zero?) places where you can rent something of higher quality.

This was the closest I could find, which actually seems fairly nice. Doing this online makes me super nervous though. Wheeee wedding! kill me.

Good luck with this. I'm going to buy one soon as well. Let us know how it turns out.

Fellas,

Any recs/strong recs of any Mexican places in the city, specifically south loop? All price ranges - from cheaper to nicer.

XOCO in the center loop is really good for lunch. Although you may face a large line if the weather's good.

Nuevo Leon isn't South Loop, but it's close. And tasty.

Elt, put your focus towards Pilsen. You can randomly pick Mexican places there and find all sorts of awesome

Nuevo Leon has become overrun with outsiders, that is to say if you go at the wrong time expect a half hour wait to sit down.

FYI - per their FAQ they don't sell tuxes, only rent them.

+1 on the tux place on Clybourn that was mentioned above.

This. And by 'wrong time' he means dinner-time. Food is good imo, but not nearly good enough to deal with the wait, bad service, insanely cramped tables, etc. It is BYOB though.

It sucks too because I don't live far and me and the old lady would drop in from time to time randomly and now we have to scout out the front to see how bad the line is

Maybe growing up in So Cal has stunted my idea of what good mexican food actually is, but I swear that Chicago's biggest gaping culinary hole is decent mexican. There are some diamonds in the rough out there, but generally I have been massively disappointed with the majority of the places I have gone.

/blanket statement

Anyone think I am crazy wrong and have good recos? as a reference, thought Salpicon was good but has been forever since I have been. I was extremely underwhelmed by anything related to Bayless. I think De Cero and Antique Taco are prob top of my list, and I am not sure whether I should be embarrassed about that...

Nuevo Leon food is made by descendants of Mexican immigrants for a largely Mexican community and has been crushing since the 80s when I was a kid, I'd start there.

how much time have you spent in Rogers Park, Logan Square, Humboldt Park, or Pilsen before making this blanket statement? If the answer is very little, then, well..............

regarding mexican food, anyone know if chilapan is still around in logan square?

i ate there a year ago and thought it was amazing (byob and slightly overpriced food but i loved it). definitely on par with the best mexican food that i ate living in SD and Rosarito.

now i'm not even sure they are still open. they switched locations and it's tough keeping track on google if the new location still exists. and i have no other reason to want to be in logan square unless someone else has a good mexican recommendation =)

I can think of plenty of reasons to want to be in Logan Square. If taco recs are what you want though, go to L'Patron on Diversey and California

It's kind of funny because topolobampo was just named the best Mexican restaurant in the country the other day...

There's plenty of great Mexican food in Chicago. However, just like most of the best Chinese food is in Chinatown, the best Mexican food tends not to be in generically yuppie white nbhds. There's even a reasonable number of decent places for pretty much any significant region of Mexico, Baja included. So yeah, have to agree that it's a pretty silly blanket statement.

Sorry to hear Nuevo leon has gotten crazy.
