I save all of my worst performances for the daily challenges. Had a complete facepalm moment in yesterday's challenge where I had a 6 and a 4 left and put the 4 where I meant to put the 6, ruining both snakes and of course it was the end of the roll so I couldn't undo it. Was on for a decent finish but came in something like 32nd because of that.

ditto. In part i think it's because none of the rest of my play is geared around making the best job of bad rolls - it's reroll until i get a good 1st roll, then play until things go square and either -> advanced, or -> new game. So I'm not really practicing the skills needed for the DC (or any other competitive format).

I play the odd bit of timed and seem to do OK in that so I think its mostly variance for me.

I'll be pretty pleased if my second place holds; I generally suck ass at the challenges. Not entirely sure what is different about this one. Is there a way to see other people's challenge boards from previous challenges?

I often try to break 20,000 with bad dice for practice. I'd say it's usually possible to do, but I don't always get it done.

It seems like rating has a lot to do with volume, especially for the first few hundred games.
