Brutal logic fail.
1) In any possible world, events would have happened.
2) In this possible world, event A (DMK claimed) happened.
3) If the Alliance had never formed, events would have happened.
4) If the Alliance had never formed, event A (DMK claimed) could have happened.
5) The Alliance cannot say it caused event A.
6) End.
Or think of it this way. You move to a city. You make great friends but hate the city. You decide to leave and say you regret the decision. Your friends say "but what about us, didn't we make it worth it?" You say "actually, I would've made friends anywhere I moved so I can't use my great friendships to justify my bad decision."
You lose friends when you say this, but it's true. You're making the same argument the friends are making in this example.
