Suggestion for the draft. I don't even know if I like this better than the Daimyo picking everyone, but just throwing it out there:

Each player picked drafts the next player for their team.

ie, I'm the daimyo, I draft A, then A drafts the next player for the team, etc

The draft will be something to run over the holiday weekend when people have little time. I'd just give people a short limit, like a couple hours, and then have the previous picker make the next choice, so it stays moving

I am gone for most of the day. Here is my schedule:

Bridge 9AM - 1PM
Meeting at work 1:30 PM - 3PM
Another meeting 3PM - 5PM
My shift 6PM - 3AM

Seems like Draft wins by a lot.

I dig Zurvan's idea wrt the drafting: A drafts B who drafts C who etc...

I really doubt anyone will be against that so we'll roll with it.

Being the Daimyo will be one of the most time demanding roles in the game, therefore I will for now elect Team Captains to begin the drafting.

*By time demanding I really mean that the role will have to take more decisions than the average role and that it will also have a wider range of options to choose from, thus needing more consideration.

Once the teams are formed I will let each team decide who they want as Daimyo, of course if multiple people want to be Daimyo within a team I can always rand it among them.

I really dont want to place the responsability of being Daimyo on someone that won't welcome it.

zurvan's idea will take longer than you anticipate so you probably want to get this rolling ASAP if you want to start on Saturday. Not even sure it will be done by then as is.

Once someone gets chosen, its on him to draft the next team mate, please try to be clear and post updated rosters as the draft progresses to make it easy on everyone.

Teams are 7 strong.

Bobman, Thingy and Cadaz, you are all up for the 1st round picks.

Just bear in mind that the 2nd round picks cannot begin until the first round picks have all been declared. And so on.
