Set in feudal Japan in the
Sengoku Jiday era players will be split in 2 or 3 factions striving for power. Each player will be an actual member within the faction, such as
Daimyo, Heir, Samurai General, Spy, Diplomat and others
Each faction will have their own private thread where they can discuss all matters and decide actions such as troop movement, player movement, allocating resources and more.
There will be a Map where all factions have their own territory, castles and cities as well as neutral cities/castles that any faction can claim through might of sword or diplomacy.
There will be role playing elements of course, as well as correspondence between clans and with neutral factions.
Each faction will also have an honour rating reflecting how closely they follow the
Way of the Warrior (and this will impact various things).
I'm looking to have 2 factions of 7 players but I can run this with 3 factions of 7 players each as well.
There might be a werewolf element in that 1 player of each faction will possibly be an enemy spy but I'm not 100% sure about this yet. In that case there would be no NK's by the spy, just majority lynch in effect every day until the spy is found out, with no-lynch always being an option.
Spies would have great restrictions on how much they can write to their clan as well as associated risks for each communication they send to their clan.
I will release more information on roles but not every mechanic will be explained publicly, a big part of the game will be making decisions with less than perfect information. The most influyent Book for any Warlord at the time was
Sun Tzu's Art of War and the game will loosely follow its precepts.
Simple to play: Despite the game-scale being large I'll look to make it relatively simple to play for anyone.
Time commitment: To play you need to have time to make around 3/4 meaningful posts each day. Players will only be allowed to read their clan-thread.
Each day there will be an EOD for decisions and then NIGHT will be called. During Night I will resolve all actions and post any results that become mainstream knowledge at the relevant clan threads. Threads will be reopened when suitable.
Character advancement: Each player can develop traits/abilities throughout the game as a result of their actions. Each player will also learn information depending on their location on the map and will provide bonuses to their clan with their presence. Of course, all players may die in combat as a result of events, be it leading an attack or defending from one. (there are still a couple more ways to die)
Certain players acting in roles such as generals will just lose all their abilities/bonuses and respawn as a newly appointed Rookie General at the capital of the faction. Losing said abilities and bonuses will be a big negative of course.
