So basically, if i want to play a hand in late position in a limped pot i need to raise 100% of the time.

There are times where it's okay to limp behind in late position, maybe even middle position as long as the players behind you are passive and bad. But at low stakes the rake is really brutal in small pots, usually 10% up to $4 or possibly worse. So there is a pretty compelling argument to be made that when you get involved in a pot you want to get it well beyond the point where the rake is capped, since a limped pot where you actually win some money is likely to max out the rake but not go too much further than that.

So it's really hard to give a general strategy, because it depends a lot on things like how often the players are willing to go broke in limped pots, how likely it is that a raise will narrow the field or even take down the pot, how likely it is that someone was limping with a really big hand, and how badly they play in general. But the important thing is that you're not just limping behind because your hand is bad but you're bored.

Yeah, this is something i may never be able to do, commit that much in those types of situations even if it is +ev. So swingy.

I don't know what your bankroll is and I am a bit out of my element when it comes to bankroll requirements for playing 40bb HU poker, but I'm relatively confident that you are not properly bankrolled for it at 100/200.

last hand of the night was kind of funny, flop is 67j two clubs one heart, i have 89tk two hearts, guy to my left bets half pot or so, two calls, i call,turn ace of hearts, different guy pots, call, i shove/call all in, other guy goes all in

ended up no one had a pair on flop and guy who led had a pair of aces and took it down on a brick river

i think it had about 36% equity which is pretty good 4 way all in!

not that huge a pot, maybe about 3600

it's basically like making a 4k sports bet. i'd guess my edge was about 10%. we weren't 40bb. we were only 20bb. i had 8k. he only had 4k

my ev in that situation was bare minimum +5%. the kid was a decent player for live full ring. but fairly awful heads up short stacked. that last hand was a fist pump call for him, and he tanked forever.

ibavly is a short stack heads up expert. he should be able to confirm my ev should be around 10% in that situation vs a random live donk. probably higher. might even be 20%
