I have officially been the chameleon a lot

I'm definitely up for more rounds of this after eb rands chameleon and it ends

It's a fun diversion from the soul-crushing omnishambles of everyday life

I am defying odds.. I played 12 games in this session and 6 games in the 2018 series. I have been chameleon once in 18 chances. And in that one time I gave a hit or miss clue that missed bad. The game lasted like 5 minutes...

I hope this series lasts long enough so I have a chance to lose properly as chameleon - outing myself in a series of posting missteps and going down in a self-destructing ball of flames......lol

On another matter, the game is kind of neat but I think in 4 of the last 5 games I was in the chameleon knew the secret word before discussions started. In some cases they googled themselves into confirming it and with them knowing the secret word, it was pretty much impossible to break their cover..

If the chameleon gets the secret word right away, so be it. But until we consider a rule change for next series we maybe need to be google-proofing our clues to the secret word.

But, lol... you can bet the next chameleon cover will now be "of course you don't get my clue,..I had to make sure I was a level or two away from the secret word and was google-proof. And now you are going to vote me out because you don't get it." lol

no research seems ideal in the future

I think no research is fine, but perhaps certain sets should be eliminated in that case.

Sports stars, for instance. A couple of those people might be unknown to a villager. It kind of breaks the game if a villager doesn't know what the word is / means.

If so, we should give JM3 a break and/or let him join in and go back to self modding like we did the first time. We'd need to reconfigure into groups of 6 so 5 play at a time with one mod.

Didn't we play ~10-12 the first time? As I recall, we did 2 series. The first one we used the suggested scoring. Points for voting the chameleon were added in the second one.

Yeah, maybe that's the best compromise.

We can make it so that the mod can play along. This is how it can work.

The mod randomizes the lists and determines the groupings.

The mod is in Game 2. He'll send the PM's to the players in Games 1 & 3. Then someone from either of the other 2 games (let's let it be Player A) will randomize the players in Game 2, will randomize the secret word, and send out the PM's to those 5 players.

I doubt we will get those kind of numbers again (15) anyway.

We will probably need groups of 6 (each round one player mods).

We will be good to get 12 players for two separate games, imo..

My point remains. If we have enough for 2 games then the mod can play.

yes, for sure bolt...in fact this is the only time we have had a non-playing mod.

The only question would be to explore the pros and cons of having (1) independent groups of 6 (rotating mod in each group), versus 2 or more groups of players being handled by a single rotating mod and a helper (as you have outlined).

There are pros and cons for both.

Below is the 2nd series with a group of 6 (rotating mod).

Anyway, once this series is done I am sure we can get something workable going.

If we played this game for long enough, everybody would probably be in first at some point. So much variance.

just had this exact thought while looking at the table

For the most part my sense is that there is quite a bit of parity in the POG group of players. I guess what leads me to think that is I have never said to myself "I hope that x and y are not in my game (because they are really good), or that I hope that a or b are in my game (because they are easily readable or pretty transparent)".

Every person here has been very clever at some points and totally lost at other points..... lol

That said, what do I know? I kind of felt like I was an average/ mediocre/middle of the pack player at this game, but looking at the scoreboard, it appears I am low and left on the bell curve.....lol
