Girls isn't really a comedy, apples and oranges!

Mark K, have you watched The Middle any? I've seen some of it in reruns, it's very good-spirited.

Man Seeking Woman also had a great 1st season of you're OK with overly goofy premises

I cut cable a few months ago. Bought rabbit ears. Hardly turn network TV on.

Mostly just chromecasting Netflix or cable shows via relatives logins.

I occasionally miss being able to put something random on but not for the normal price of cable TV.

I can't wait for that model to completely die out.

Maybe that's why I never found it funny.

No I don't think I ever watched it. The Middle eh? I'll take a look.

I was excited by the whole Sling TV thing but it turns out its not actually a great deal vs cable/satellite when you factor in 1) No DVR capabilities 2) Only 1 stream per paid account and 3) the pricing is actually very close to satellite/cable providers 1 year promotional rates

That and it isn't compatible with Chromecast yet

My cable company offers an "Essentuals" tier that is basic cable minus the travel channel, sports and other stuff like ABC family for $40/month.

The next tier that includes the above is $80/month

I may give it a shot and see how I can handle it. And just snag sports from the internet.

cut the cord 3 years ago and never looked back. I have 3 Roku players (which are amazing) and just illegally download anything not on Netflix or other Roku channels.

39.99 on a VPN/year is better spent than 39.99 on cable/month.

It would be easier if I had over-the-air channels available. Without cable, I get static, static and more static and QVC.

yea it's odd. When I was young before we had cable, an old antenna would get all the channels over the air from Pittsburgh on vhf and uhf bands. I bought a digital antenna a couple years ago and couldn't get anything other than a couple pbs stations in West Virginia.

Hmm, I don't get the Umbrella character '☂' on my Android phone...

I thought the pub title just had musical notes.

05-03-2015 , 05:57 PM

veep and silicon valley are excellent. i don't think there are any other current comedies i enjoy... oh wait, children's hospital is good. the fanfiction episode was inspired.

Silicon Valley I keep watching, but it's been pretty lackluster season 2 tbh. It doesn't seem like Mike Judge at all, and I notice there's some other guy's name all over the credits on this last episode, Berg I think. Alec Berg, wrote it and produced it. Sounds like a Jew tbh.
05-03-2015 , 06:27 PM
Alec Berg of Seinfeld fame!

That seems to be an homage to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf where berrrrgen is misused for bourbon as a running joke.
