It just seemed a little humdrum, like there wasn't much at stake. I get the sense that I already know these characters as well as I want to, and while I found seasons 1 and 2 interesting, it all feels a little been there done that without Vee around. And they handled the flashbacks differently and somewhat less effectively imo.
