I'd have to agree with bigger on this one.

I drink more because I don't have pot any more. If I had both, I wouldn't drink much at all. You can get a really really good buzz with pot and a couple of beers. Takes like 8 or more beers only for me to get that good of a buzz.

pot just makes me sleepy

pot + alcohol just knocks me out

meh.

it's not a simple equation, but on the whole i think i disagree.

i enjoy the alcohol intake process more than that of pot, pot is better from a morning after perspective unless you control your intake of alcohol, but my anecdotal experience suggests that mediumm term pot intake ****s you up way more, although long term iunno what is worse for you.

also, alcohol plus pot makes me go green and then vomit everywhere

I agree with you about the alcohol intake process being alot more fun but I think alcohol has worse long term impacts.

Pot probably decreases your iq by about 10 points in a relatively short period but if you drink long enough, it'll have the same impact. I think I'm at least 10 points dumber than I use to be.

alcohol also has harder implications on your body imo. but that is why its more fun than pot.

I don't think I'm any dumber. I don't remember a lot of stuff, though.

Pot makes me nausious.

I am. I use to say I was the smartest person I know. I couldn't even come close to saying that now. I've lost alot of my edge. I use to consider myself a genius, I honestly don't think I'm in that territory anymore.

In addition, I'm not as quick as I use to be either when it comes to processing things mentally.

Maybe you just met more people?

I have to admit, I'm here too. Not sure it is the pot (or booze), though. I'm getting old dammit.

i've seen people's memory/reasoning seriously screwed up by short-term pot intake. I'm sure it returns when you stop the pot for a while, but that's kind of not the idea, is it? I think you'd have to be drinking a hell of a lot to have a similar effect.

I also have an acquaintance who suffered a catestrophic paranoid mental breakdown somewhat linked to pot. There are clearly issues of causality there, but still it's pretty sobering even from what little i know.

This is partially true but I actually feel dumb compared to how smart I use to be.

The reason I mentioned 10 pts is because I remember a study done about 5 years ago about pot saying that regular use will have that affect but it'll come back if you stop smoking.

I agree about the amount of alcohol needed to have that affect. I've only noticed it in the last 2 years but before that I had 10 years of drinking 4-5 times a week and felt good.

But I did a lot of hard drugs for about a year and I'm sure it also took an impact.

Yeah, I was told this is a documented occurrence. Happens every once in a while where people just have an adverse reaction to pot.

Yeah, caffeine is my true addiction. I've been pot free (except for once) for some time now. I quit drinking for 2 years and I am sure I could do it again if motivated. Caffeine I could never quit.

I had to take an EEG a few years back and I had to stay awake for something like 24 hours AND I couldn't have caffeine. I felt as bad as being really sick.

if i don't have a coffee in the morning, i feel like **** and don't know why (until i realise i made a coffee, but forgot to drink it). If I try to go cold turkey, i have a headache for about a week that feels like my skull is rent open. Except that I'm currently not drinking it, and i think my jetlag masked my withdrawl, and i'm probably getting as much caffeine but just through different teas, etc.

At home i have a stovetop espresso maker that is the absolute bomb both from a mainlining caffeine and a tasty coffee perspective.

Starbucks in japan (and maybe elsewhere, i dunno) does a green tea frappucino that is utterly amazing
