well,

people can evaluate ev differently

although in this specific instance......

but like, say someone I knew was going to be killed in 5 minutes unless I could come up with $300, and I didn't have any, it would be +ev to take the 10% at 300

like say I was just a degenerate gambler who enjoyed winning long shot bets

I might take the 10% chance at 300 because that would make me happier than winning a flip for 200

the point that I'm trying to make is that there is room for subjectivity in ev decision making

Speaking of game theory, I once saw a promo for (I think?) Deal or no deal in which somebody had 250K and had a % chance to win the million instead.

POG I ask you, what % chance would you have to win the million would it take for you to give up the 250K?
