Yes, that would have been lots worse. (though I really do hate messing up anything in a game with lots of new, presumably impressionable players...)

It's a bit scary how many mistakes a mod can make that can damage a game. During the randing/OP/PMing, if it's a big game and has a lot of roles (or if you're like me and go overboard), it's so easy to get sloppy. After that little incident and the rerand, when I was sending out the 27 PMs with role names I was sure I was going to screw something up again...

Grats on the MTT.

I'm ascared every time I send a PM when I'm modding. I don't think I've messed anything up this game yet except leaving Youngplayer out of the game when he was one of the first to say in. doh.

Hi, Optimus.

Yesterday, when driving back over to Ypsilanti to pick up the car we left at the bar Saturday night, we stopped off at the "Chick Inn Drive-In" for a milkshake.

This place is amazing, because it's such a relic. Their milkshakes are awesome (chocolate-peanut butter ftw). Across from us was a car with two old guys who ordered burgers and milkshakes. It was funny because this type of greasy spoon is a guilty pleasure, and as they sat in the car and smoked, and then their food arrived, you could just imagine them sneaking away from their wives for this little sinfest -- and that they've been doing this since the 50's. I digress.

No pictures of the milkshakes, only the signage:

They have "Quanity portions" !!

Hard to see, but for daily specials at bottom, Wednesday is abbreviated "Wen". On Thursday, they have the "cheese steak hoggie". They serve "sloopy joes", and you definitely won't be able to see that they top your hamburger with "tomotos" (balderdash: Japanese tomatoes?).

Anyway, cool place, albeit incredibly run down.

i nearly posted almost exactly the same post this morning. It's weird how stressful i find it.

How was the wolflist blown? I think the closest I have come to blowing it is almost posting a playerlist that is segmented wolves:seer:vanilla, rather than resorted back to alphabetical, multiple times.

Also, a major league obvious error is clearly >> than a small one where you tip some/all the wolves to a single player somehow, since there's pretty much zero chance the former goes un-corrected.

I think atak posted an unedited wolf PM in the OP

In one game I ran, I kept the roles on the same spreadsheet as the vote count, because I had various powers that were needed at or near eod, and I pasted the entire list in to the game with a vote count

Fortunately durron was in the game, saw it and deleted the post right away, and nobody read anything.

Looks like Atak copied the actual PM he sent to the wolves (which had the full wolf list).

The first time I modded a game, I kept my own spreadsheet, and my vote count was the same page the role list. So the spreadsheet said something like

Atakdog [1] seer
kokiri [3] village

The first few times I copied and pasted the vote count only. But then I C&Pd the role column into the vote count.

Here's the game (and the page where I outed the wolves):

If this is your idea of sin, you need to get out more.

A memorable game that I of course thought of when it happened, but lots of others have done similarly. (One common mistake, which I think I may have made once for a turbo I was modding, is sending the villager PM with the addresses in the address field, not the BCC field.) Another memorable thing about NASCAR was that even though it was a fair ways into the game, nobody bitched at you for the mistake. I think in general POGgers do a pretty good job of treating mods as what they are — unpaid volunteers who are modding largely as a favor to the players and for the good of the game and the community.

Yeah I did this in the first game I modded

Did you take that picture in your neighborhood Dustin?

Would be quite weird if the sign was in English then

seems fair to me. since the wolves know who all the wolves are, the villagers should know who all the villagers are. just don't tell the villagers who the wolves are.

I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Welcome to the Pub. Have whatever you like — and then post a video of you toasting with it.

lol, reading these posts on modding make me feel much better about myself. I am absolutely PARANOID that I will do something to break a game and piss everyone off.

I have def almost done what kokiri mentioned, posting the player list in role order. I did also open a game way too soon after sending out PM's with N0 actions. Someone figured out that someone was AFK and knew their role from it.

I will never chew out a mod for game decisions IMO.

I have been neglecting the Pub. Am sorry, Pub.

I have an idea for a game, but it will take some work, and now I'm all modded out with the werewolf game. But the good news about that is that so far I really like how the politards play — if any of them stick around I think it will be good for POG

They're way nicer than I expected. They haven't fought at all.
