Not really a fight per se, but I was visiting my friend at college and we went bar hopping in town and I got lost, without even an idea of what street he lived on. I tried to walk around until something looked familiar, took a bad turn and had to walk past a gang of guys who were just waiting to kick someone's ass.

I tried to run but I was DRUNK and tripped over the curb. I made it to my knees just as they caught up to me, and the biggest guy had already started the longest developing punch ever. I saw it coming forever, I could even here the gasps of anticipation from the other guys, but I couldn't even make myself move.

I thought my whole face was going to shatter on impact. I swear the spontaneous "oooohh" and "holy ****" shouts from his friends hadn't been heard since Steve Atwater laid out Christian Okoye in 1990. The one good thing was he hit me so hard, nobody else even tried (sort of like at the carnival after the strongest almost busts the bell with the mallet, what's the point of anyone else ringing it?).*

I finally made it back to the house with a bloody face and my eye about swollen shut and my girlfriend yelled at me for leaving her at the bar.

Excluding organised fights for sports and being punched etc more than a few times while playing football (totally unprovoked ref, I swear), I have only ever been in one fight. Trip report of the actual fight is second hand information, I lost my memory of the two minutes either side of the fight.

I was in a club and was walking back from the bar to my friends with drinks in both hands when a drunk guy I have never seen before in my life walks out from a group of people and nuts me right between the eyes. He broke my nose which is still a bit wonky and left me with a nasty cut above my eye which bled everywhere and ruined my shirt . He swung a fist at me while I was still dazed but missed. He then swung again, which is when the martial arts training kicked in. I stepped inside him, gave him a little nudge to knock him off balance him going for my favourite front kick, chopping kick combination. Connected cleanly on his chin then his forehead and he was out cold.

It was all caught on video by the club who pushed really hard for me to press charges but I wasn't interested in the hassle. Later on, I met the guy at the hospital. Now that he had sobered up, he seemed like a decent guy and apologised. One of his mates had apparently wrongly pointed me out as the guy who had been sleeping with his girlfriend. He even paid me to dry clean my shirt but the blood never came out. It got me out of my statistics coursework so it wasn't all bad.

may have come vaguely close to having my second ever fight a couple of weeks ago. When 3 small drunken chavs attempted a quite hilarious mugging of me and my housemate. Given their size and sobrierty, I am fairly sure it would not have ended well for them had things escalated.

Don't think I will ever throw the first punch in a fight, there is too much to lose from a legal point of view and I'd much rather use words if there is a disagreement.
