I was part of the design team for a next generation reactor for 4 years. The company spent lots of time and money and were making good progress (imo). A few huge investors came in, added some new people to the board, appointed a new CEO, and unceremoniously shut down the program in the span of a few months (everyone got laid off--several hundred). Turns out those two investors had massive stakes in oil and gas companies. Oh well!

(1) The parlant vagueness of fascism should never be allowed to cover for wanton jingoism and xenophobia.

(2) Trump is never going to jail, but his life is probably close to its lowest point ever and that's maybe better.

(3) Musk is too insulated to have to care. Unlike Trump, Musk is smart enough not to cross people with real power.

(4) Nuclear would be great if we could trust people, but then so would a lot of things.
