A lot of people like Biden.

Most here don't, but he's reasonably well liked.

good news, filthy, Joe Biden isn't actually leading the country.

Instead we're being governed by a junta consisting of Jill Biden, Kamala Harris, that guy that's the chief of staff whose name I'm currently forgetting, and Jen Psaki.

Yeah I'd think lots of people like him. Maybe a bit less than Obama but Obama was clearly liked by a lot of people and you'd call him a bunch of the same stuff.

Also people use phones made by sweat shop workers and eat meat from animals treated poorly processed by workers treated poorly and order Amazon stuff shipped and delivered by people treated poorly. You mostly just don't think about it or abstractly justify it.

you said he's "reasonably well liked". but i can't believe that.

in our lifetimes all presidents had huge numbers of fans, supporters, idiots who were enthusiastic about electing clinton, reagan, obama, bush, trump, carter... like each of them probably had tens of millions of fans. biden had 0 visible fans

"i LOVE obama! he's a great leader! he's what our nation needs right now!"

people said the same thing about all the past president(maybe not nixon or ford?) but people don't say that about biden.

no way he is reasonably well liked for a president.

yes i would, and all the others too. that's my point about how elections are not legitimate. people like that would never be elected in a legitimate democracy. but they are THE ONLY people who ever win

Filthy makes a somewhat compelling argument here fwiw. And Biden's campaign platform was literally "Not Trump". It's said that the American electorate would elect a ham sandwich...and that's Biden.
There was basically zero enthusiasm for Biden in the primaries until after he won South Carolina and then everyone was like "ok I guess it's Biden".

In an event that human rights groups are calling "Bloody Sunday," at least nine left-wing activists and labor leaders were executed at their homes and offices this past weekend during a series of coordinated raids carried out jointly by the military and police in four provinces in the Calabarzon region of the Philippines, just two days after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered security forces to "finish off" communists in the country.

this ****ing oprah meghan bullshit is a distraction from what the public really needs to be focused on. same way sports and movies/tv/kardashians are a distraction.

usa is a failed state

i just looked up poverty line. 26.5k a year FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR what?!?!? so if you're a single mom with 3 kids, and you make 26.6k you are living above the poverty line lol

it said subtract $4,540 per person. so if you're a single mom with one kid the poverty line is $17, 420 what???

Quote:
In February 2020, the average monthly rent for an apartment in the United States was 1,468 U.S. dollars
so avg rent is $17,616 per year

and 34 million americans live below this poverty line that is waaaaay too low.

if your salary was the fed minimum wage 7.25 an hour, you'd have to work over 50 hours a week to pay avg rent on an apartment. and you'd have to go without food, water, electricity, transportation, clothes, anything and everything else.

yeah Dems raised a big middle finger to poor people in this country and what does Oprah do? 2 hour interview with literal royalty about how, apparently, the monarchy in England is, in fact, racist

I suppose GoT Robert baratheon could give us a mental analogy of how.

but they definitely hated how popular she was. she was disliked for a lot of the same reasons merkel is (aside from the racism)

Good thing you can get apartments in many places for less than average rent, and even during the pandemic it's possible to find entry level jobs paying more than minimum wage. I saw a McDonald's sign the other day offering a starting wage of up to $18/hr.

Seriously, though, income and cost of living disparities are going to break up the United States. Calling it. I'm sure I am far from the first to do so. The only question is how many different countries we fracture into.

If we get hooked up with Ohio and Illinois I’ll be pushing to secede and petition to become part of Canada.

because they are so absurdly out of balance. if you worked 100 hours a week you still couldn't afford avg rent.

iirc most place require you to have income 3x what the rent is to be eligible to rent a place. that would you mean you'd have to work 150 hours a week.

minimum wage is supposed to mean you can live a decent life if you work 40 hours a week.

wouldn't you want to juxtapose average wage w/ average rent?

minimum wage is not intended to provide average subsistence.

i was thinking about how good usa america is for people on/near the bottom... prisoners, unemployed, underemployed, etc... so i was looking at poverty line, and minimum wage, and wondering how good usa america is for those people(let alone the people abroad who are exploited, and killed by usa empire of evil).

so that's why i was comparing min wage and avg rent, like how far out of alignment they are, and how far away avg rent is from a min wage worker.

since 10% live below that absurdly low poverty line, im guessing around 25% are really struggling.

forbes says 78% live paycheck to paycheck
