I just think of it as historical fiction since all stories are "fake" anyway
The play was good. Songs are catchy yes. Having black actors play famous white revolutionaries gave it a unique perspective

I quite like Moana. Pretty sure it's guilty of some cultural crime or other.

iirc disney is a fascist company, and slaves make their merchandise.

but i remember moana being pretty good, like great cultural representation.

Thinking about it i'm not even sure Hamilton the character is a good person. I don't think he ever once stops to reflect on his choices and if they are correct or who else they may affect. Whereas in les mis almost everyone does except javert who never doubts he is wrong until the end.

the fireworks last night were non stop for ~6 hours. it was hellish. and now we have this

His motivation was power, which required someone of his station to be a revolutionary.

Being an abolitionist too, maybe, given his locale.

He seemed too Machiavellian to be concerned with goodness. The difference between him and Burr was commitment & risk, not anything moral.

The show was fantastic. Writing, choreography (my God, the eye of the hurricane scene?!), and really strong performances by the sisters and Burr.
07-05-2020 , 05:46 PM
Yeah burr is good
07-05-2020 , 05:52 PM
You guys read the Trump Rushmore speech, yeah?

He's already making Statue Park. Sorry if I missed the joke..
07-05-2020 , 05:53 PM
You think people in this thread are reading Trump speeches?
I am sort of curious about when Trump decided to give a speech there. It obviously seems like it's in response to all the momument stuff, but maybe it's been lined up for 6 months?
And reading the speech now and yes-- looks like a challenge to take it Mt. Rushmore.
07-05-2020 , 06:01 PM
Random Trump speeches, no, but a 4th of July speech in the heels of police rioting statue fires and mounting hospital overloads amidst travel bans against usa#1 seemed a little special.

Or maybe I was just helping my wife find ammunition to feel victimized as an educator.

Since history always repeats itself I wonder who's going to team up with Jeff Bezos to launch American Revolution Part II, the unraveling.

Gents:

I encountered this today:

Spoiler:
I think it's supposed to be Arnold Palmer. I resisted the brief temptation to tear it down or burn it, since (a) raised fist and (b) I've never heard anyone hate on Arnold Palmer.

Every time I think 2020 has given us everything it’s got, it brings out something fresh from in back:

I saw that and already mentally marked it. It made me laugh to see you post it in this thread. lol

BTW, I'm kind of digging the pink White House.

That's an awkward way to express gratitude to Elon for saving human civilization. I figure his companies that will/are:

Eliminate petroleum burning vehicles
Eliminate traffic accidents
Economically build mass transit tunnels under all cities
Design efficient and inexpensive solar installations
Lead in battery storage technology
Provide high speed internet access to/from anywhere in the world
Get humans off this planet and build bases on the moon and Mars.

...would cause you to genuflect any time you hear his name.

not embedding that tweet cuz it's a video of a bunch of cops killing an unarmed man today.

supposedly he was sleeping in his own driveway. cops were looking for someone else, and started harassing him, and escalated to shooting him god knows how many times

he hasn't done any of those things. he pays his workers $15 an hour. he also opened up his factory too early, forcing people to risk their health, and the health of all of us.

People beg to work for him. Fact.

And he's done most and well on the way to doing all the above.

Tesla
Solar City
Boring Company
SpaceX
Starlink

The man crushes living the life of a hero

That what his V3 neural network chips are all about. Autonomous driving vehicles. You can get it in every Tesla today. And through neural training across the whole fleet of Tesla's is always improving. Today, it has a lower accident rate than an average person.

What's wrong with Starlink? There are over 500 satellites flying now. SpaceX is launching another 57 satellites on Wednesday. You can beta test in Canada.

This is what SpaceX is all about. In Boca Chica Tx, they are build StarShip. A fully reusable launch system. 60 tons to leo, rinse and repeat. It's the jet airplane of rockets (launch, land, refuel, launch). A month ago, SpaceX using Starship won a moon lander contract from NASA!
