Amp- ya, that is what I figure. I made business cards, its in my e-mail signature, on facebook, and I am probably going to mass spam my friends on facebook and by e-mail once everything is done. I am at the age where everyone is getting married, so if people remember me and refer their friends then that's probably the best way

Anyone know a good way to advertise? I've been using free sites like craigslist and kijiji, but all the low-budget ppl seem to go there and don't want to pay much
Bribe/Incentivize wedding planners?

Share business cards with florist/caterers/churches. You help them, they'll help you...

GL! Website/photo's look great!

BTW, your prices look amazing cheap if you were a Southern California Photographer.

you're approaching this in the wrong manner imo. Take compromising pics of you sleeping with the groom and blackmail him. 1 or 2 weddings with the right (read: rich) guys and you'll be set for life.

You could specialize in offbeat weddings. Be known as the go to gal for gay weddings, druid weddings, naked weddings, star trek weddings. Gotta have a hook.

I vote for high-end storyographer! Anyone can take wedding portraits, it takes a talented individual to capture and tell the story of a couples special day.

Also sell packages:

Start with a redic expensive way cool super duper deluxe mega package
Then work down to the no frills cheap stuff.

No one will buy the "basic set" when for just a little more they can have more more more!!!

Also, make yourself seem special, exclusive, not just another photographer.

Your website quote "I'll go anywhere" just sounds desperate and doesn't portray an in-demand exclusive artist.

Do wedding photographers provide a website for the couple and guests to see pictures in a very short amount of time? You could pass out cards that the couple's pictures will be available at www.preciousphotography.ca/gwenandbill or their own URL with your elegant advertising on it.

Don't just be a wedding photographer, be a Wedding Webtographer! You could do a whole Wedding Day Blog for the couple or whatever. Could be really good.

Well the one I bought is below the SLR range, so switching around and renting fancy lenses isn't an option.

Here's one picture I took on a lark. Jones Blue Bubblegum inside my Uranium Oxide glass, lit by a UV penlight.

My mom is angry at me for not getting an H1N1 vaccine when they were giving it out.

I read > 60% of the population will be getting the "pure" form of the vaccine by end of the year.

Thanks guys....some great suggestions!

I was thinking of writing a blurb eventually.....and saying that 20 of the best photos from their day will be available online within 24 hours. I have in my add the option of a "photobooth" at the reception where i will set up a camera with remote and guests can come pose as they wish and just press the remote....

Also, I offer a slideshow at the reception of some photos that were taken earlier in the day....

I have priced myself low, as the other photographers that ive seen are around $1000 and up......

so I start at $650, but that is just for like 5 hours of work, no prints, no images. It ends up being around 1-2K for a typical gig.

Anyone know the name of a proffessional type camera store in the US? Preferably in DC? I want to see if I can get some stuff cheaper down there.......

Canada we have Vistek and Henry's.......do u have the same? I just don't know what to search for to see if it's close to where I'll be.

Pricing yourself too low lowers the perceived value of your product. I'm completely ignorant of this situation and your relative price, but thats a pretty important business concept.

Especially with wedding photography.

Don't be afraid to charge enough that you'll make a profit even after you rent equipment, and counting your time as an expense. The best part: the most obnoxious customers are typically bargain seekers

Agree. I know more than one woman who wished they wouldnt have gone cheap on their wedding photographer. If word of mouth is as important as I think it would be, you dont really want to get yourself labeled as "someone to hire if you dont want to spend much money'.
