5 hour energy before drinking
Is 5HE the name of a drink or is this some other trick I should know?

Interesting, I always do powerade before bed, water in the morning. Dunno how much sense it makes to have the stuff in your system while sleeping though

5 hour energy is the name of a drink.

I generally chug a ton of water and take a few vitamin pills (b vitamins) before bed, but I can see how chugging powerade would help as well.

As I've gotten older, hangovers have gotten worse. Now I'm pretty much guaranteed no matter what happens, it's just about reducing the damage.

try 5HE next time and see what happens (& TR). I also avoid doing shots -- that never ends well -- when possible.

How does one avoid shots? It's hard to just buy the girls shots and just stand there and watch.

if you're going to buy shots at least drink them yourself

Shots are the ultimate hangover multiplier. Although, by the time I'm doing shots, I'm usually so ****ed up the hangover will be epic regardless

I rarely get truly drunk without shots. Beer is just too much volume for me to consume in sufficient quantities for truly epic drunkeness. Of course ocassionally I'll do it. During a fraternity beer pong tournament I passed out in the neighbors yard during the finals (we were probably on game 3 or 4 out of 7 - and we do a "regular season" for playoff seeding then a playoffs with multiple games per round) at like 4 AM. And I know there have been some epic nights after a couple hours of beer boxing.

I have gotten rip-roaring drunk off of Miller Lite. If you don't want to drink quantity, drink em fast.

Nowadays, I mostly drink high ABV beer or wine when I go out (unless a really special occasion). Trust me you can get drunk off wine or 9% beer.

But then I'm not going for "truly epic" drunkenness, usually

I'll agree with you on Wine, but high ABV beer is usually too hopsy or filling for me to drink a whole ton. I can probably get drunker off natty light than some high ABV micro-brew simply because I can't stomach more than 3-4 of the microbrews while Natty light is basically water.

I can drink a lot of beer, and it never fills me up. Although the worst hangover I ever had was after ~8 pints of Guinness. I could barely walk the next day

Yeah I usually only get hangover from liquor so I guess I'll just try to stay with beer for the most part.

i recommend taking at least 10 hours of energy when drinking.

even better is that i one time saw energy shots called "toro" (i think it was toro, it might have been something else) anyhow it advertised 8 hours looked like the test grade mexican version of 5 hour energy

Dustin, I've been listening to more Colombian Spanish today and I stand by what I said earlier. They have Brazilian tendencies in their vowels. I hear a lot of -o and -os pronounced as -u and -us, and I've heard a final -e pronounced as -i a couple times (but rarely). It doesn't seem to be everyone and those who do it don't do it 100% but it's definitely there.

On a random note, a friend of mine said "yankeelandia" while talking to me today and then got really embarrassed about it.

This guy I'm listening to right now is just flat out omitting the letter d from a lot of words.

I am still baffled at how Colombians are considered the clearest Spanish speakers.

I read something recently about D being dropped but it refers to Peninsular Spanish

http://books.google.com/books?id=_Qk...page&q&f=false
go to page 23

the whole first chapter of that book is highly informative actually on language change in general

Thread that discusses dropping intervocalic d in Puerto Rico
http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=690264

also mentioned on the wiki page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Rican_Spanish

So its definitely not limited to Colombia or perhaps its something thats spreading

D is sort of a weird letter in Spanish because Spanish has already gotten rid of its other (previously) voiced stops, b and g— so it would seem natural that D is next to go and in Spain it already is, where its pronounced much more like the th in the or that

It's not just in Spain. I'm told to pronounce it that way.

I'm listening to C5N right now and I just can't hear it. All of the D's sound completely normal to me. Although the amount of things we don't hear is really pretty amazing.

I was shocked to learn recently that sometimes in English we flap our t's and produce whats essentially a Spanish r— like in the word water. There are 4 different ways to produce a t in English and 3 of them are pretty drastically different
good video on that here

no, we pronounce our Ts as Ds inside of words, and the Spanish R is basically an English D.

I should have mentioned about the Spanish D that I'm only told to do that between vowels and perhaps a couple other places that I don't understand. I don't hear it from other people but that's what I'm told to do...

Speaking of C5N though, I see now that the estimate of people in the park has gone from 1000 to 4000 and now up to 13000+.
