Spoiler:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

One of the few popularish female led rock bands going today, and one of my favorites. The band received a lot of hype before they ever actually released anything thanks mostly to lead singer Karen O's wild stage antics, and they lived up to all of it with their stellar debut album Fever to Tell. Their next two releases were also great, including the synthy It's Blitz!, one of the best albums of 2009.

Girlfest:
Janis Joplin
Joni Mitchell
Blondie
Patti Smith
PJ Harvey
Garbage
The Pretenders
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

I really like Mr Brightside, but other than that, not a huge Killers fan. Can't say I'd recognize a Blue Oyster Cult song.

EDIT: Heard of the yeah yeah yeahs, never heard their music

Don't Fear the Reaper. That was their "sellout" hit.

That may be true. Song2 was their best-known song in the U.S., but they've had other successful songs, punk to pop, that I also like. As I said, I figured my upcoming pick wouldn't be that popular with you all. I figured that a bunch of my picks wouldn't be. That's fine.

While I'm trying to put together a somewhat cohesive festival (eventually), and I want to respect the general goal of the game by not picking obscure artists with no fan base (I don't think Blur is in that category), I don't really care if I win and I don't expect to. To each his/her own.

Um...you wouldn't recognize Don't Fear the Reaper? Not sure it is possible to be on the internet without being able to recognize that song.

Yeah, didn't realize they did that one.

I would've recognized the song, but not connected it to Blue Oyster Cult.

BOC: Burnin' for You was another big hit. An old boyfriend really liked them and I did too. They put on a good concert.
