your turn

my point was that since i'm taking filmmakers that don't need big stars, i can spend my picks on more filmmakers and top character actors and not worry about having to use early picks on A-listers

we're all gonna have awesome studios because there are more than 480 people involved in filmmaking that are great at what they do...so no problem picking a great talent every round this draft...so it comes down to personal preference and perhaps theme/coherence/fit of people in studio

Just sticking my nose in for some unasked-for peanut gallerying (but then again I am a member of that most covetted 18-35 male demographic ...).

So far Derwipok has easily the most coherent and memorable studio, with Nich in second. Honestly the rest are interchangeable. I can't remember who has who and I don't know what anybody is shooting for.

Off the top of my head I can remember that Derwipok Studios is synonymous with blockbuster and has

Cameron
Bay
Emerich

Smith
Ford
Willis
Rickman

27 Studios is offbeat/quirky and has

Burton
Coens

Depp
Buschemi

I vaguely remember that Legend studios has a Golden Age directors fetish ... I want to say Ford and Capra among others?

I've read the whole thread and couldn't tell you anything more about who has who. There's a whole lot of talent but nothing to make the other studios stand out. Surely one of the primary points in marketing a studio is creating an identity as the place to go for X.

As of now, I think derwipok has, by a distance, the worst studio.

I'm not sure TL is going to be happy if I draft now. Haha, but I guess I should.

derwipok has the biggest money making studio

chuck's is a go-to studio for animated films with disney and lasseter

legend's studio has the classics from the golden age, tho he doesn't have capra, that's birdman/timelady

sun tzu's studio's sole goal is to preempt all of my picks: tarantino, walken, deniro, norton, tomei, spacey, foster, etc

what are the rules as far as who i can draft wrt to score writers, screen writers, etc?
Movie Studio Draft Quote

u can draft anyone that hasn't been drafted yet...jk rowling was an example given in OP, so doesn't have to be someone known for working directly in films and could be someone working on any aspect of the film

like could i draft Shakespeare?
Movie Studio Draft Quote

well rowling was the example, so i'd think so...but u get his talent, not his body of work

so it's not like u are stopping us from using existing shakespeare works for our studio

we take Charlton Heston. Ben-Hur, the Ten Commandments, Planet of the Apes, etc. etc. He's also a good narrator.

Plus he will shoot anyone who trespasses at your studio

and for the record, he was the original Robert Neville.

Oh ****...now I can't use him as a Mexican in Touch of Evil

he also played the same roll in the original and remake of the film adaptation of a Shakespeare play 22 years apart. Staying power imo.

he was the narrator in Armageddon.

As I said I disagree, at the end of this I think we'll be pretty close to derwipok with regards to moneymaking (we do have a pretty explicit business strategy that will be posted at the end, along with all writeups I have decided that's a better strategy)

I think we already have a pretty good money making engine lined up at this point BTW

Lasseter is ours :P

Our current studio:
- Sir Alfred Hitchcock
- Sir David Lean
- Tom Cruise
- John Lasseter
- Matt Damon
- Samuel L. Jackson

Rowling was an example of someone who we don't really want as a draft pick. They should have explicitly worked for movies so both Rowling and Shakespear would be horrible picks IMO

Yeah clowntable you're making a good job of drafting people I marginally passed on but considered probably about equal value
