I've always been more of a Clash guy, but this is good

It's certainly topical. I like this. I had a copy of The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle when I was in college, which is about as close as I got to Sex Pistols, and which is obviously unrepresentative, but this is fun. I do still like The Clash a lot better, though.

I think I admire and respect this more than I enjoy it. Like, it's really good, and it's catchy (if pretty long), but it's just...I dunno. It's evoking a sound from the early 70s while being written in the late 80s, and I don't necessarily know if I'd say that there's a lack of authenticity as a result, but maybe...a lack of urgency? They're all millionaires at this point. Maybe that's not it. Each verse seems sort of the same as the last, though.
Bloo was obviously waiting for the right moment to bust this song out; I wouldn't be surprised if he's used it in a previous walrus too, because the hyperactive, melodic dissonance is just so HIM. I've always liked this song, so it's a good read...but in the end, I think it might just be a little too dissonant for me. I dunno, I think you might have been a lot better off with this (although I guess they put out too many albums in that incarnation, so never mind; this is mostly an excuse to have you listen to that song, if you somehow haven't heard it, because it's awesome).

I gotta say, the video does this song no favors at all. The familiarity neither. This is a genuinely great tune, and if this was the first time I'd ever heard it, I suspect it might score a decent amount higher.

Love the opening; lots of fun overall, the driving guitars and the vocals and the ha-ha-has are great. Overall just a tad too shallow, maybe, and I don't love the electric guitar riff that slips in at one point, but it's got a lot of stuff I like in a song.
Soooooo weird but strangely mesmerizing and fun. Love the fact that they were five American GIs stationed in Germany who decided to start a band. Really enjoy this song, and I don't know why.

I adore this song and have for years. It was in the podium at one point here and drifted down for reasons unexplained (mostly familiarity, I expect), but if you haven't heard it, I exhort you to listen. Impossible not to smile while listening. Also sort of surprised it was released in 1988, I would have pegged it for four or five years earlier.
another one that could have scored much higher, maybe on a different day

It's not the most complex thing in the world, but I'm not the most complex person in the world. At bottom, it's very enjoyable tongue-in-cheek, nose-thumbing early 80s new wave with perhaps slightly limited replay value. The late saxophone is not really my thing, but then they redeem it by turning it into a quick Benny Hill riff. On the whole, I quite like.
love the name of this group; might have been a bit of a pander if my vague recollection of mentioning it in some DVC or other is accurate

Yeah, I just really enjoy this. It's catchy and absorbing in a Frank Turner meets Los Campesinos kind of way; it's also somewhat Saddle Creek-y (e.g., Now It's Overhead). Good stuff.
