Draft: Build A City Draft: Build A City

i didn't care for any cities that any of the socialists drafted, including bloo. they're all so mundane.

drafting something like angkor wat serves no purpose for a resident. that place is never going to change, ever, which is all good...except once you've seen it once in your life, you're done. O2, Barca, and Oxford are the only 3 picks I think of his that are actually worthwhile for someone living there, and O2 isn't all that great. could easily be replicated.

I really believe Angkor Wat works as a kinda super cool urban park. It's already got the moat to separate it physically from the city a little.

One thing I came away from the voting thinking was that no one, myself included, really nailed it. Lots of people had substantial bits I liked, but no one had a complete draft I thought hell yeah about, which is a bit unusual for these games I think

I think it's all subjective because different people value different things in a city.

It's obviously very unlikely that your ideal things match completely with someone else's.

Plus half the cities were never finished...

pwns' audacious vision was probably the closest to full realization.

As I carefully review this draft, I'm struck by how Gabardine was posting up a storm and dominating all discussion early, but then he pretty much checked out. I think in general, the quicker the draft, the better. The fewer drafters, the better. These things have a way of losing momentum quickly.

I think he went to Japan, hence the lack of posts. Duck took over for the last few picks.

Each of them is different: [undrafted] grew up from artists look for cheap places to make their art, [undrafted] and [undrafted] were where intellectuals wanted to hang out and change the world, one drink at a time, others like [undrafted] came from immigrant communities merging into one another.

They're hard to pick in this game, since they are by their very nature accidents of the planning system, but I should be well placed to encourage their development with the mix of uni graduates, a fabulous location for great food and a strong institutional arts scene for smaller experiments to spin of and riff against. Still, I want to pick something that will encourage the development of grass roots authenticity, or at least symbolise it. So with my last pick I'm taking...

err, I don't know

Spoiler:
umm....

I've been thinking about this for like 4 days now

fwiw, this is what I was thinking of.

In retrospect, it may have provided better utility to my city than the Atlantis resort, but I got scared of drafting something that few people would have ever heard of.
