i think rerand is good. part of the penalty is you have to rerand it lol

and i think randing blue/red is fine too

btw, my 2 clue was not an indicator at all that our board was tough. i could have got us there in 3 turns pretty easy. i don't remember our words lol, but i know i had plan to get us there
