I think u can easily take out two and flip a coin with other two. Good luck us

yeah I knew for sure it wasn't Mercury or Hydrogen and went for Aluminum for no real reason. Felt good about it, oh well

had no idea on this new question though so oh well

If the questions are going to increase in difficulty at this rate, this might be my last question if my flip came up lucky... I won't look until the reveal.

Didn't even get that far in my thought process with it, heh. I just knew it wasn't gonna be between that or mercury for sure

Oh good. I eliminated mercury cause mercury thermometers. Aluminum melts easy enough in fire so got rid of that one. Then for some reason my thought process was hydrogen bombs vs carbon based lifeforms. Feel like I played bad but still got there. No clue on this one tho. Complete guess

Wow, holy ****. The two melting points that I was debating between were way higher than I thought they are, and it's such a huge gap. Aluminium's melting point is at 660 C, and Carbon is it 3550 C . Makes me happier that I got it right, or would have felt stupid.

Diamonds melt at 3900 f
Pretty interesting stuff I just read

damn we need the social studies/history questions before the science!
obv I know this one.

sigh.

Damn. Made a semi-educated guess, but was wrong. Gg .
Considerably harder question imo, and harder to just guess if you don't know it already.

Good question stuck
Yeah for this one I was wandering if anyone sent the question in to him, and if so, was interested how much of the field they thought would be eliminated with it, and why using it now. I think at least 50% of the field will be eliminated with this one.

Now it's time for ASK DOCTOR SCIENCE!

Doctor Science, what does melt mean?

I'm glad you asked. Melting is what happens when a solid turns into a liquid.

Oh...so if the thing is already a gas or a liquid at room temperature, then it has a low melting point?

Yes.

So if I answered hydorgen or mercury, then

You're a dumbass, yes.

What about the other two.

Well think about them this way? Which have you seen melt? An aluminum can or a rock made of carbon?

Um the can...

There you go...Thanks for watching. This show has been defunded from public broadcasting.

Dr Science rocks don't contain much carbon afaik.
Unless you mean diamond

Diamond isnt a rock

Coal is tho!

I eliminated hydrogen and mercury because they aren't solid at room temperature.

Then I decided it wouldn't be carbon because carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are not solid at room temperature?

I tried to think of things made of carbon, since aluminum cans seemed pretty flimsy and therefore are probably not too hard to melt (plus, why would they make cans out of something that is too difficult to mold into shape?)... but I only spent about one minute on it and it wasn't until I googled the answer that it suddenly occurred to me that diamonds are pure carbon, and they must be able to withstand extreme temperatures since friction creates heat and they are (nearly) the strongest substance in the world.

I was thinking along the same lines as soah.

And then remembered alot of the pots and pans I have are mostly aluminum and figured it had to be right.

That was a perfect question because you could get to the answer multiple ways...that's what makes a good trivia question

This one is just rand and a meh trivia question (not a criticism of stuck, who is doing a good job...just feedback for further tuning)

I actually think there is a decent chance ppl can figure this one out logically or at least narrow it down.
I didn't "know the answer" but had a real strong hunch and was able to figure it out logically.

I guess we'll see when it's revealed but just bc you followed a logic and got there doesn't mean it was sound correct logic that actually should get you there

Yeah, I'm really curious how you logiced this one out. I just don't see too much that could distinguish the options without having some kind of foreknowledge
