Sure - once you get behind, 5 year old games are still new to you, and then you don't need bleeding edge graphics to play them!

You sure he didn't mean games that are aimed at 5-8 year olds?

I'm sure of what he meant - what I'm not sure of now is who is leveling who.

I'm sorry. On rare occaissions I get this urge to try this leveling thing. But then I immediately feel guilty about it afterwards. I guess I just don't have a troll bone in my body.

I would think that you could give a five year old a five year old one and they wouldn't know the difference, but I don't know that much about five year olds.

Only us old guys remember games with "Ages 5-8" on the box. Do people still play board games?

As soon as they posted about it on Twitter, all their friends would mock them for playing something that was "so 5 years ago" =P

Let me guess, that is where those of dubious character can meet up with 5-8 year olds?

I'm not really familiar with Twitter either, is that a forum where the five year old set can express their innermost thoughts?

Correction - I saw the movie "Chef" and that had tweeting in it, I'm actually an aficionado!

This was our go to ages 5-8 game when I was a kid. And we liked it. It also was the first time I realized I enjoyed winning stuff from other people by playing a game.

Yikes. Google "kids 5-8" and you get "Best Apps for kids 5-8". That seems inspiring and yet somehow very scary to me. I wonder if I showed a kid a marble if he would even know what it is and what you do with them.

When I was a kid we didnt really play the version where you put marbles in the circle and then tried to knock them out, getting to keep whatever you knocked out. Rather, we did the equivalent of a heads up match.

The first shooter would toss his marble about six feet away from him in the grass or dirt. Then the second wouls toss his. After that you alternated shots, with the oblective being to hit your opponents marble with yours before he did it to you. So each shot you would shoot closer to his, but tried to stay far enough away so that he couldnt hit yours on his shot. You'd get closer and closer until someone would go for the kill.

But if you missed, you were usually a sitting duck right next to him. So the better shot you were, the farther away you could hit your opponents marble. But you might shoot your marble extra hard, so if you missed you would keep rolling far away. The first to hit got to keep the marble (or maybe a choice out of the opponents bag). That's how you grew your collection, plus trading and buying new ones.

You could also declare that you were going to bomb him (bombsies) where you picked up your marble, stood directly over your opponents marble, and made a circle with your thumb and forefinger at waist level. That was the bomb sight. You looked through the sight to line up your target, then dropped your marble through the circle, hoping to hit his below. It sounds easy, but for little kids it was no gimmie. And if you missed, or a clump of grass kept your from hitting, then you were a dead duck. So it was a high risk high reward move.

It sounds so simple now, but it was a great way to spend hours outdoors. As a kid, the worst thing was to be cooped up inside, so we would stay outside all day, wandering around making up games until it would start to get dark and our parents would call for us to come in.
