Poker is all about situations and sure that could be the correct thing to do if you had never played Dwan and it was in the first 15 hands but after that he is going to adjust and you have to adjust with him to maximize your profits. Playing one style just won't work long term.

Let me start off by commenting on the bolded part. If there's one thing I'm known for it's my ability to "shift gears". When I say I sit back and wait for pocket rockets or QQ I'm talking about the good hands I will play. Of course I'll still throw something like 76 in there for good measure. Going by all the headshakes in disbelief I get when I play in my regular livegame I would venture to say that I got this covered . However, to win by a bigger clip online there might be some truth to what you're saying, especially in a HU-setting, a setting I'm getting more and more into in a theoretical sense.

I wonder if OP knows that trapping QQ+ means you have to see a flop... And to this point hasnt shared any postflop trapping wisdom...

Also, I think tarping aggro players with one pair usually means your gonna have to call 3 barrles post... have fun with that, esp v durrrr.

At least your wife likes you, and respects your opinion on poker... Cuz no one here does...

sounds just like a guy named Lars I used to play with.. He's still there but sitting with $50 at 1/2... still waiting for rocket pockets.

Is it a fair assessment to interpret your advice about playing poker as simply folding and waiting for a hand, or am I missing something?

Given the fact that you do have a lot of experience playing poker - and as I respect my elders - I'll certainly keep my eye on this thread in the hope to learn something new about the game.
If there's one thing I've learned through the years of playing this beautiful game it's the importance of patience.

I'll say it again,

Patience

If I told you all about the pots I've dragged by just waiting for golden opportunities you would maybe, just maybe, change your somewhat disrespectful attitude.

Another absolute key is table talk, something I omitted in my first post based on my assessment that the online-community wouldn't comprehend the impact it can have. Always being the "weird one", the "nuisance " or whatever persona I decide will accomplish my goals at any given table is absolutely essential to my success.

Most people play shorthanded aka 6max nowadays so no room for patience.

Ever considered you might be weird, and that it's not an act?

Anyway, in live games I totally agree on the patience part, I was playing live for a long time and always sitting with an ubernitty guy, at first I found it unbeleivable that he won with that style but almost each night he went home with profit. It was pretty funny cause each time he was involved in a hand everyone went like, Oh geez, he is having the nuts again but there was always 1 guy who had to see and paid off (he made it an art to bet just enough to make them pay (he never overbet or shoved unless the pot was blown up enough already). He did throw in an occasional semi-bluff though but that was only in headsup to the flop.

One time I saw him folding top twopair to a bigraise on a drawy board. I say man are you for real? He say yeah they could have a set already or a draw that they will hit the turn or river. I am not commited at all at this point so I rather wait for a better spot. I was like uhhhhh okay. Well at least you can play very low variance that way. I am the one who will call an allin with TPTK easily when I think I am ahead and I always run into terrible suckouts that way and going broke home and he is still playing so there is something to say for it.

Online is so much different then live.

If you're goal in your posts is the bolded you've succeeded beyond all expectations.

On a serious note almost everything you've posted, with regards to strategy, is so easily exploitable, weak and obvious that either your regular game is compromised of the worst spew monkeys on earth or you're completely FOS.

With regards to the "new booming internet poker" (funniest line in the OP, IMO) I'd rate your play anywhere between -4-6 BB per 100 depending on stakes.

Seems a bit of an insult to the community, not to mention the wealth of poker literature available here, to come on here and say: "patience, trap and adopt a weird persona."

I'm not saying that at all. Just trying to point out that I might have something they don't. My live-winnings this year alone should make that perfectly clear. If only you guys knew what they're saying about me in the pokercommunity that is my "bread and butter".

I'm considered something of a shark
