I have to derail this for a quick second with a story I heard 2 days ago.

I meet up with a friend from college that I have probably not seen in about 2 years. We are catching up on all the **** that has happened to us, what we are doing for work, who we still keep in touch with, yada yada yada. He then asks me if I heard about what happened to Greg. I say no, so he tells me this story.

Greg decided that because he was a bum and smoked too much weed to do anything that was considered hard work, aka office job, he joined the Peace Corps after college. His first assignment was an eastern European country. (I forgot the name, but it was one of the ‘stans.) His assignment was for 18 months, and then he was going to return to the states. About 6 months in to his assignment, he meets a local girl and they begin to date. Greg is not an overly good looking dude, and this girl was stunning, out of his league to say the least. He takes it as a sign that everything is going great. They date for a year while he is over there, and then invites her to come to USA with him when he has to leave. She gets a 90 day visa and during these 90 days they decide to get married so she doesn’t have to leave.

They move into a place together and everything is fine. After about 6 months, he comes home from work and finds everything is gone. Everything. She left him a note that divorce papers were in the mail. She moved out of his place and went to live with her friends from her home country in the DC area. The funny part is that all of her friends have done the exact same thing as her! They all married so they could get into the country for a bit, steal half the money from the marriage, and then just **** around.

I know a bit about this due to one of my buddies marrying a girl from London and they live here, and we all think she will be kicked out of the country because she has not been here 2 years. But honestly, I am sure she doesn’t care. She got half his money for really little invested.

Anyways, I say go for it. Worst case it ruins your life, but at least you will have an awesome story to tell. Much better gimmick than a pocket pussy protector.

You should meet her first and see if you like her personality at all.

op, I do know some immigrants that would be willing to pay to get married to stay in the country so this might be legit, that said its weird that she is willing to move down to where you are and stay with you and all that... how it usually works is for 10-20k they marry and depending on how they like the person they either hit it or not, so if you look at it from here point of view she might think she will get away with not paying 10k by marrying someone that doesnt care about getting paid but she still has to work and make a big move and blah blah so its kind of strange she is willing to that for 10k, and you should be very careful. get a prenup have her tested extensively, lay the law down hard in the beginning and go from there....
