New Sticky Time - Suggestions? New Sticky Time - Suggestions?

02-13-2011 , 07:58 PM
OK, we've had a number of rule changes over the last year or two that have resulted in a few different stickies in this forum. Also, there are a number of frequently asked questions I've always planned to add in one of these days.

Well, one of these days has finally arrived. This week, I plan to rewrite the stickies. So I'm soliciting input - what's missing that should be there? What's already there that either shouldn't be or should be corrected?

Right now, I think the plan would be for two stickies - one for rules, and one for a FAQ. But I might only go for one. I'd prefer not to have more than two, unless I see a compelling reason we need more. I'm going to have to have an independent sticky for a special rule anyway, so I'm trying to keep the number down.

I likely won't use every suggestion, and I've already got lots of ideas myself, but I'm sure you guys have lots of useful stuff I haven't thought of.

Going to overhaul Internet Bonuses as well, so suggestions for either is good. Most likely I'll use one sticky and crosspost it.

Yeah I totally agree with the Full Tilt FAQ.

Is there anyway to draw more attention to the sticky? It can have all the info in the world but, I think the biggest challenge is to get people reading it.

Firstly, I think the sticky should draw attention to the request form and ensure that there is minimal leakage. At the moment there are quite a few threads popping up where people are just asking for deals and they sometimes turn into mini request threads before you come in and lock them down!

On another note: There also seem to be a few “Who is the best affiliate threads?” popping up. I think these threads are pretty useless when OP’s aren’t specific at all. I would completely understand if someone was looking for an affiliate for a fairly niche network or one who can pay RB cash in hand or something crazy but, such a general question persistently appearing isn’t positive.

It should probably include:
FT RB vs Stars VIP graph someone made and posted.
What deductions are made and what hits MGR
The fact that they hit MGR and not rakeback
Rakeback for existing players

I'm not entirely confident people will read this before making a thread but it's worth a try.

Also a containment thread for anyone who posts anything about AP/UB

(just kidding, but not really)

A couple of my favorite rakeback resources have things that might be good to include in a FAQ:

MGR Deductions by Network / Room

An Analysis of Different Poker Rake Distribution Systems Explains how Essence, Bodog's system, etc. work.

One more thing that might be worth adding to the RR form.

Users can submit the form but, we can't PM them because their post count is too low. It might be worth mentioning something about that otherwise a bunch of them will just think we're lazy and can't be bothered replying!

As mentioned above, maybe there could be a small section going through each network to explain the rake distribution method and network rules/rakeback method for each network?

Also to prevent having lots of threads with one liner questions, maybe setting up a megathread for all one liner questions, similar to in BFI:

Nice one for doing all of this.

OK, I've done my first rewrite, which will be the biggest one. Hell, maybe I got it perfect and it'll be the only one.

No, I don't think so either.

I didn't use everything in here, but I thank everyone for their contributions, and I welcome more ideas.
