Congrats!

In terms of negotiating, you probably could have gotten more, but you would have had to be willing to actually negotiate. Which means doing research on what you can get, risk not getting the job, risk starting a relationship with your employer in a way that lots of people aren't comfortable with, etc.

It was on a conference call and as soon as it came up I muted the phone and gave a "OMFG do you guys see that WTF...HOLY MOTHER OF GOD" and I had to intensely fight the urge to say something.

Next internal company meeting the girl leading it opened a million applications and minimized them and left her home screen up on the projector before starting.

Everyone who saw that original dock had it burned into their memory of that client, there's no coming back from that.

I thought on of the last few upgrades they greatly improved memory management so background apps don't use any memory. Soon all applications will always be open!

Long time since I've posted here but just want to show some of you what we've been working on as I think some of you will be interested! We manager to port our C++ game editor into the browser which means it will run on any Chrome able system:

https://www.scirra.com/images/c3/c3-chromeos-thumb.png
https://www.scirra.com/images/c3/c3-...okar-thumb.png

Pretty thrilled how it's come out, it's extremely responsive (not a laggy slow thing, you forget you're in a browser). All written completely from the ground up. No support for FF/Edge yet, they are just missing a couple of browser features.

Sounds really cool... what exactly do you mean by game editor? Like engine?

Png links not working for me btw.

ETA: Nvm must be a work/firewall thing or something, I can see them on my phone. Cool!

Yeah luck has it server just went kaput fixing now (can't wait to migrate to cloud)

Yeah it's a game engine that allows you to make drag and drop games. Previous version runs on Windows only as a C++ app.

Edit: Just a couple more shots showing it running on tablets/mobiles:

No, it's what our startup does, been going for 5 years now and our previous engine Construct 2 is approaching 4,000,000 downloads. This is my favorite game made in C2:

Yeah it's a good game, it's a 2D engine but he's done some very clever stuff to give a quasi 3D feel to it.

I pose a question to those more knowledgeable than I : suppose you are on maser branch, is there a way to call up "git log" such that it only displays deleted files? Would be even more handy if you can call up deleted files after commit id of xyz. My use case is I'm trying to locate some deprecated code in a deleted file that I want to use to assist in debugging current issues.

What differentiates this from GameMaker?

Some of the most productive people I know have docks similar to that.

It's because they don't shut down things after they use them.

This way when they are ready to work on whatever they were working on before, they just jump directly to where they left off instead of having to re-open and twiddle around with window sizes before they can start working.

You'd be surprised at how effective that is for getting started on a project.

Will be writing more about technical aspect of it in the future, just super busy right now. Yes, uses WebGL.

Niche we've carved is no programming required. GM does have the as an option but is mainly focused around GameMaker script. Secondly, Construct can be extended with JS through plugins and behaviors. For people wanting to learn programming/scripting, we feel that JS is a much better starting point than a propitiatory language like GMS.

We've also focused primarily on HTML5 game exports (can be wrapped in various ways to run on other platforms). I feel in exports we've got pretty much the best HTML5 game engine out there.

With Construct 3 as well, it will be fully translatable (which is a huge technical challenge and basically too hard to implement in a c++ app), fully styleable with CSS and one of the first truly multi platform editors, only one code base to maintain. We'll be able to push out updates very very rapidly.

The short answer is
git log --diff-filter=D --summary
you can use any date or revision filtering you want in addition. It will show you more info than just the deleted files, but you can grep to get what you want.
