For some strange reason* they decided to go with tapatalk instead and discontinued it.

Old (way superior) app still works but has been removed from all the app-stores - also it now forgets your login-details more often than it remembers them which is really annoying, but still better than the tapatalk app.

Maybe they could open source the app and let some of the devs here keep it updated?

Did they have you explicitly learn any of that yet? If not you're way ahead of the game. I don't think 80% of us even knew what time complexity was until the post-course curriculum.

Tapatalk is annoying. On the occasions I just want to read and not post, browser is best.

No, but I did overhear a TA trying to describe it without describing it to a clearly overwhelmed person who was unknowingly asking about it yesterday. It was pretty funny.

We covered algorithm complexity a little in our data structures course at college, but I've learned the most I think from cracking the coding interview. She does a great job of explaining the concept, I think.

This* exists but I can't remember what it's called.

*Free internet for putting a box in your house.
Edit: Oh no it was free heating and/or electricity for hosting servers but I still can't remember the name.

My first question for the CDN company would be about bots and/or Ding unwanted C over the N. Other than that it seems legit.

I found that book to be not all that useful unless you're using one of the languages they're targeting. There are probably better places to find potential whiteboarding questions. A good number of the ones in the book assume you don't have conveniences that Ruby has.

Some of the very smartest people at AA had read Skiena's algorithms book FWIW.

Only $84 on Amazon!

I've looked at some algorithm books before, but they were mostly "here are some algorithms", and not really "here are how you figure out how to design a good algorithm". Maybe that book you recommend is the latter.

Figured you all might find this amusing.

Connecting to the library internet as an unauthorized user:
When you connect to a page that is HTTPS, the system will redirect you to the welcome page. except when:

and
-- you are attempting to connect to an HTTPS page.

In order to get around this issue, attach to any HTTP page. They suggest using Bing.

Yes, the recommended "Algorithm Design Manual". It's the only (pure) algorithm book I own.

Apparently an important requirement to work in HR is that one be very adept at ignoring all forms of communication, despite showing up as Available on Lync, and not keep people in the loop on anything. Unfortunately the other HR person is in another state, so I can't walk over to her desk.

Email the boss. You'll accomplish your goal this one time, but make a lifelong enemy. You have to decide if it's worth it.

First guess would be 0 training on IM client etiquette to explain the link thing.

I IMed him. He said he thinks there's some kind of paperwork they're waiting for from HR Woman #2 (the one I can walk to). He said he'd call her. Yeah good luck with that. I'm not gonna go over there again.

It would be nice if HR woman #1 would at least not ignore my emails and IMs and just keep me in the loop.

I have tasks. I'm not fully switching over until June 1. I just want to send the email to my coworkers and get all that over with. Right now only my bosses know.

Also this place has a reputation for pulling crap like "Oh sorry even though you're all working 60 hours/week, we couldn't extend that key workhorse contractor like we had promised. Bob SomeoneYouNeverHeardOf from accounting said no. Too bad we all REALLY wanted it to happen too."

The longer this drags out the more my paranoid side starts to worry someone is up to something.
