TWM:

Looking through the MSI website, it seems they are incompetent at even labeling their own GPUs correctly.

The very model you linked claims it is Single Link DVI, but then says max DVI resolution for the card is 2560x1600, which would be impossible.

This won't get you 2560x1600.

it won't?

the graphics cards all say that max resolution via hdmi is above 2560x1600 why wouldn't this work?

i tried to find a number for cyberpower but couldn't find anything.

when i went to fill out a request for help form online it asked a bunch of questions about my computer that i didn't know so i gave up.

if anyone has a contact number that would be sweet.

The "Max Resolution 4096 x 2160" on HDMI is misleading. This is only on monitors that also have the proper HDMI input, and also would only be at 30 Hz.

can someone please let me know if its worth it for me to drive over to best buy and get a dvi/hdmi converter?

its a decent ways from my house so would like to know if its hopeless before embarking on this journey.

oh also, on a totally unrelated note, there is a feature on windows 10 that is bugging the ever loving **** out of me.

anytime i drag my web browser near the edge of the display it auto changes to full screen.

haven't figured anyway to disable this if anyone knows how please share, its so godamn annoying.

It might (should) get you 1920 x 1080. If you are ok with that, go for it. Although I'm sure Best Buy will rape you with about a 500% markup compared to Monoprice, Amazon, or Newegg.

Compare http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-H...ic+hdmi+to+dvi at 6.49 to http://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia...=1219193668381 at 34.99. It's usurious.

Edit: Warning, if it's a driver compatibility issue with your monitor and W10, it still might not help.

right now everything looks artificially huge.
if it was 1920x1080 would that look normal on a 30"?

my idea was to just buy the converter test it out to see if it worked and then if it did return it and order a cheaper one on amazon.

but if im not gonna be happy with 1980x1080 then its pointless.

does anyone run 1920x1080 on a 30"?

It won't be unbearable. Certainly much better than 1280x800 (over twice as many pixels). Probably worth it to give it a try before you spend a few hundred on a new monitor.

The more I think about it, the more this seems like a driver issue and I am skeptical this will work. If the problem is that the DVI on your GPU is only single link (and I am very skeptical, in fact, almost positive that it is dual link and should be able to do 2560 x 1600), it should be able to do 1920x1080 already.

He was getting 2560x1600 on his old machine using DVI, not HDMI.

yes so the monitor is capable of it

so this has to be driver issue right?

rverboatking can u confirm if u ran the driver in compatibilty mode on all the OS'es down to XP (id start at 7 even tho the website u linked to before said it wasnt supported and just work ur way down the list 7 - vista- xp) one must work imo

Right -- but what you posted was completely out of context. I was saying he won't get 2560x1600 over HDMI to DVI, which is correct.

no sorry wasnt saying u was wrong it was just where i spotted the resolution he wanted again

RBK ur first thing to do is the driver issue

uninstall reinstall reboot etc for each one (operating system)

and let us know what happens.

I haven't done that yet as I have no idea how and my buddy isn't around today to help me.

if it's something simple I can prolly do it with proper instructions to follow, do I have to install those os and uninstall windows 10?

also I thought the graphics card i have is incapable of having higher resolution (as stated in their own specifications)?

it says that via dvi the max resolution is 1280x800.
