Howard came off the bag thats why he made the safe call. Dont think he realised Rollins caught the ball prob cause Rollins tagged 2nd throwing to first.

The ump isn't supposed to make a safe call unless someone is safe on the bag. Was he ruling Cano safe at first? If so, Matsui got robbed since he wouldn't attempt to go back to first since he thought Rollins must have dropped it and Cano is safe at first. He could have got back to first and avoided the Howard tag if the first base ump didn't blow it.
