11 - The Republic of Ireland were penalised more often for handball than any other team in the European #WorldCup qualifiers.

karma's a bitch

rooting for Germany, although it is always the same I am not a patriot and don't really look forward to watch their games but in the end I support them anyway. I guess it is the illness of the club fan.

Although would like to see Valdes, Barrios and Subo to play a reasonable WC, so that they rise in value. Barrios will not be sold this season anyway and Subo for 20+ would be great. Valdez is set to go and we need a good price. So gogo Paraguay and Serbia. Serbia is playing worse than their squad indicates though they should not be remotely a problem.

so we're gonna have to put up with the ****ing vuvuzelas every ****ing second or every ****ing game? from what i remember last year when western commentators, players, coaches and fans called for a ban SA's reply was basically ''LOL fu whities'' and FIFA didn't budge either.

1. Scotland. Well, it's my list. And this is my imaginary World cup, obv When the f are we gonna qualify again.

1. Cameroon. Hey, I've been there! Rooted for em in 1990 too.
2. Ivory Coast. Cool shirt, so I ordered one.
3. Australia. Hey, I've been there too and the IC shirt can do double duty for those games.

The Rest.
4. Ghana.
5. Nigeria. C'mon anyone from Africa! That entire continent is gonna explode in a giant party when an African team finally wins.
6. Denmark. I like scandis. Cool peeps mostly; tho they're behind Norway/Fin/Swe, in that order. Dont know much about their team tho.
7. New Zealand. They're prolly ok cos they're like Aussies...except for the gay hobbits. Made up for by the awesome Haka. Their footie team won't intimidate anyone though.
8. Mexico. Cos it'll bug the yanks.
9. USA. Cos it'll bug the English.
10. Slovakia. Cos I just watched a TV show about their qualification.

...then everyone else I don't really care about.....followed by....

2nd last. North Korea. Just lol North Korea. South Park wouldn't have made that country up.
Last. England. Well, you know...English media hyping them up too much again. I'd prolly like em more if I hadn't suffered through 2 decades of Jimmy Hill. They tend to have the best World Cup songs tho. ie 3 lions, World in Motion etc.

anyone gonna boycott Hyundai for building that thing in Cape Town? if you hate the vuvuzela, you're really going to hope it doesn't work and isn't active during the WC...

Matches in Cape Town:

Uruguay - France
England - Algeria
Cameroon - Netherlands
Italy - Paraguay
Portugal - Korea DPR
1 R16, 1 QF, 1 SF

*shrug*

i don't recall it being a massive issue in the CC last year, once you get used to them. seemed to be a bigger problem having someone bitch about them every 5 seconds. idk, deal with it and move on.

President of FIFA Sepp Blatter opposed banning the vuvuzela, saying "We should not try to Europeanise an African World Cup".

i actually agree with the decision not to ban them. if this is what football is like in South Africa, then so be it. if you can't handle that, then go away until the European leagues start again, or the next Euro/WC/etc.

1. Mexico: The team I grew up watching since wc 1994... The motherland, it's now or never time. SI SE PUEDE!

2. USA: The country where I grew up, affectionately call home, allowed my parents to learn english and become fully acclimated, productive, ***VOTING*** American middle class citizens after coming here with nothing in 1984. Never going to forgive/forget 2002 though.

3. Spain: If you're of Mexican descent, there's a really high probability you're of Spanish descent...

4. Brasil: La Selecao, 'nuff said...

5. Paraguay: ...

6. All African squads except the host: C'mon, they play their freakin' hearts out...

7. Chile: I support Chile, but **** Bielsa

8. England: ****ing win something already, ffs...you invented the damn game..

Drew up the rules, didn't invent the game.

I have noticed many Germans saying "I am not a homer but will probably end up supporting us anyway" or something similar. Why is this? I am surprised. I would completely understand if it was Spanish fans or something, given the segregation, maybe East Germans aren't big fans of the national team? Whats up with you crazy krauts?

National pride has been kinda low ever since them Nazis imo. People here used to subtly be drilled into not being overly "pro-German"

Pre WC 2006 you'd rarely see any German flags anywhere for example. It was supercommon that little kids in France would whistle the national anthem in the tram...I've never seen anything like this here

Stuff that is superstandard in the US would have been concidered borderline neo-Nazi pre WC 2006 here I'd guess

my mom is still recriminating my poor dad for telling her Southafrica was not cold 20 years ago. ( I lived in pretoria for 2 years when I was a baby)

Btw my mom has been giving me lectures of how stuff was not like what we see on TV 20 years ago.

The latest in “ban the vuvuzela” – a campaign destined for inevitable failure – has less to do with the extreme annoyance or disruption in player concentration and more to do with the health of the fans and players. They’re stastitcally bad enough you’re now supposed to use ear plugs for the duration of vuvuzela time.

Those vuvuzelas will be the most annoying thing this WC.

1st tier

- Greece. I really don't know which team will appear in this WC although I'm not optimistic. But with 8 players from Panathinaikos and with a little luck why not.

- England. If not now then when?

- Spain. Best players playing the best football right now.

- Netherlands. Everyone likes this team. Why not.

- Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia. Eastern Europe alliance

2nd Tier.

- Brazil. If Mourihno was coaching I'd bet on them to win the WC without conceding a single goal. No Ronaldihno, no Ronaldo no Adriano. Brazil has turned the page .

- Argentina. Maradonna is a joke. He'll screw up no doubt at some point. At least he has Messi to bail him out.

- All of the rest south American teams + Mexico.

Weed tier. (Should be watching these teams while high for extra entertainment value).

- Honduras.
- Korea DPR
- New Zealand
- Australia
- Japan

Anytime one of these teams score I will be happy.

Bottom Tier:

- Switzerland. What are they doing here?

- Italy. Worst team in years. Enough anti-football please. Time for fancy football to win.

- Germany. Don't like them.

- France.

- US & A. Go play baseballs.

England haven't got a particularly strong squad, even for us, this year.

Japan don't deserve to be grouped with those other sides, they can play some solid enough football.

Switzerland seem to qualify for more tournaments without having a massively strong team. And **** them for stashing nazi gold. I'm with you on that and Italy.
