I guess I should clarify. Lebron's effort was superhuman. I've never seen a player attempt to take on as much as Lebron attempted to take on in that series. But it was like watching one of those absurd strongman contests where each contestant has to pick up a huge boulder and carry it 20 meters. People got excited because Lebron got the boulder off the ground, and maybe no one else could even have done that much, but he was never any real threat to get the boulder across the line. It was just too heavy.

FWIW, I think that if the Cavs meet the Warriors in the finals this year, their true odds of winning are a lot better than their true odds were last year after winning game 2 in GS.

K by that same logic jr smith had a historically poor performance in the finals. If he would have even been career average game 2 would not have been close

Shot 29% from 3 in the finals. Career 37.5%

Do you see why this is dumb?

Or how about if James jones didn't get 22+ minutes in game 2 it would have been even closer

That "what if" "variance" logic is so incredibly flawed. None of it matters

The records show Donaghy placed 134 calls to referee Scott Foster — more than the 126 calls Donaghy made to his bookie — between October 2006 and April 2007, the period during which he has confessed to either betting on games or passing on game information to gamblers. The majority of the phone calls lasted no more than two minutes and occurred prior to and after games Donaghy officiated and on which he admits wagering.

With the exception of 150 calls Donaghy placed to Thomas Martino, to whom he says he provided “picks” to win games and who was the middleman between the disgraced referee and a bookie named James Battista, the ex-ref phoned no one more than he called Foster. During this period, the most calls Donaghy made to any other referee were 13.

Quote:
Donaghy’s phone records for one of those days, Dec. 30, obtained by Fox News, reveal the following:

— 10:34 a.m. – Donaghy calls Foster.

— 10:35 a.m. – Donaghy calls another referee.

— 10:36 a.m. – Donaghy calls Martino, the “middleman” between him and his bookie.

— 10:39 a.m. – Donaghy calls Foster.

— 5:15 p.m. – Donaghy calls Martino.

— 5:23 p.m. – Donaghy calls Martino.

— 7 p.m. – Donaghy referees game between the Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic. The Magic win in a rout, 97-68.

— 8 p.m. – Foster referees a game between the Toronto Raptors and the Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis. The Grizzlies win 110-104. Foster and Donaghy speak 12 minutes after the game.

— 11:27 p.m. – Foster and Donaghy speak for at least the fourth time of the day.

— 11:38 p.m. – Foster and Donaghy speak for at least the fifth time of the day.

The following day, Donaghy spoke with Foster at 1:37 p.m., for two minutes. One minute later, at 1:40 p.m., Donaghy spoke to Martino, also for two minutes.

This is lol reasoning. First off Frye was on a bad team and hat was focused on developing it's young talent and was not interested in getting Frye good looks.

Regardless, I wasn't saying Frye was a dray stopper, just that he can hold his own and will draw green away from the basket to open things up. And his length will get rebounds and close out on drays 3s.

Come on.

Depending on the lineup, Draymond may not even guard Frye. And Frye has never been a good rebounder or rim protector, especially for a guy who is 6-11.

And have you seen how teams defend the Warriors? They never run Draymond off the 3 pt line. Hell, they barely make any attempt to close out half the time. Letting Draymond shoot 3s is a wayyyy better defensive strategy than running hard at him or overplaying him on the perimeter. That's a recipe for increasing the number of 3s from better shooters like Klay and Curry.

I'm not knocking the Cavs. I think that they are playing great and have a good bit of equity against Warriors, but that has **** all to do with Channing Frye.

I disagree. It is a pretty big deal to be able to play Channing Frye over James Jones and Mike Miller like they did last year.

They only had to play James Jones 18 MPG because Kevin Love was injured.

In 2009-2010 when he was playing with Nash he shot 43.9 percent from 3 point over 392 shots.

In 2014-2015 Klay Thompson shot his highest from 3 point for the year at 43.9 percent, over 545 3 pointers.

Yeah maybe. I think that Frye will get meaningful minutes is my main thought. You can shift a series by giving 1 good quarter, 1 good minute, 1 good play can be the difference between being a champion or finishing second

Seriously. I give up. This is Channing Frye we are talking about. He has a reasonably effective, albeit one dimensional, offensive game. He is an unremarkable defender. He is useful to the Cavs, but he is not the main reason why the Cavs have good equity against the Warriors.

Speights and Livingston give the Warriors useful minutes most of the time, but they aren't the key either.

This is the moral equivalent of "every vote counts". Sure it does, and the election could be decided by one vote. But it doesn't follow that Channing Frye is the key to the series. If Lebron, Love, and Kyrie don't play well, then the Cavs will lose, even if Channing Frye doesn't miss a shot the entire series.

And the same is true of Speights. It's nice when he plays well, but it's cold comfort if Curry and Klay are sucking.

Who is saying Channing Frye is key? It is important that everyone gives good minutes. If you want to focus on how only the stars play and make that the main theme in your head, go for it. Does not diminish that role players have a huge influence in deciding series

Channing Frye's 3 pt percentage while playing on teams with Nash was no better than his 3 pt percentage playing on teams w/o Nash. That year just happened to be Frye's high water mark.

lol Warriors fans talking to each other "Frye is not good! You're right, Frye isn't good!", great convo guys.

Frye doesn't need to be amazing to be way better than what the Cavs had last year, and he can hit open 3's.
