It's a shame that Rowan Atkinson is best known for Mr. Bean. Blackadder is so much better in my view and he is a rather brilliant live performer:

Found this on Youtube: Official Rowan Atkinson Live - Full length standup

Atkinson of course shows off his physical comedy talent but there is other stuff as well. Welcome to Hell at 0.45 or so for instance.

i considered apatow. he did write for the unnamed show, but then again that show got canceled rather quickly. solid pick.

Ugh, no time right now

We'll take dave foley and do writeup later

With our pick of Dave Foley, we don't even need a woman on the show, as he can stand-in just fine as he often did

Foley, of Kids in the Hall and NewsRadio fame, can be a very subtle actor and is a great set up man. His characters will provide a frame of reference for what is normal while the other guys are doing absurd things around him. Having a straight man, psychological actor who can get tons of laughs out of his reaction to situations and facial expressions alone will be great when paired with Cleese and Ferrell as well as Walken's absurd characters and the absurd and surreal situations that our guys come up with.

We already had the frontman of the GOAT comedy troupe. Now we add the frontman of the second greatest troupe to our list. If you aren't familiar with Kids in the Hall (and I suspect a fair number of people in this thread probably aren't), then do yourself a favor and check them out! Oh yeah, plus News Radio

Every time I hear Apatow talk, be in on the commentary for his movies/shows or in just random press stuff he comes off as this humorless douchebag. I mean there's so much evidence that he's actually funny that I can't think he's not, but as an individual he seems like a giant toolbox. Not really a comment on the pick, I just wanted to get my hate on.

I have a really hard time seeing how Cosby fits here, and don't really see the point of Farley when you've got Belushi.

apatow sucking :

http://www.hollywood.com/news/Judd_A...ervais/7752709

pretty weird. especially when he basically word for word quotes one of ricky's jokes back at him in an A-HA! moment.

The weird thing about Apatow is his sensibility is more realistic than most, which makes me think he would be a meh fit on a sketch show, however all his movies use tons and tons of improv, which makes me think he would be a great fit for a sketch show. He is obviously great value in the 4th round.

Foley is also great 4th round value one of the best straight men of all time . Great pick.

I generally like Apatow's work, but I agree 100% with Yeti on the link he posted. I'm not sure if Judd was honestly upset with Gervais or just ribbing him back, but it wasn't funny either way.

While I love Gervais, one thing that Apatow has done very successfully that no one else does is make irony-free comedy. It makes sense that he would not be a fan of Gervais' acerbic barbs regardless of who he is targeting.

mikey,

haven't looked into it in great detail but i read about 3-4 links and it seems he was genuinely upset.

Ansari is an awesome pick btw
I don't get the arguments in this draft. Commercial success doesn't matter but Ansari is spew? He's a better comedian/comedic actor than f'n Harold Ramis 8 days a week.

That's why draft needed to lighten up.

Ansari is a better comedic actor than Ramis, however Triumph didn't draft Ramis because he can perform.

I guess, Ramis wrote Caddyshack and Ghostbusters, or co-wrote. Animal House was adapted from National Lampoon magazine.

Mostly Ramis wrote and performed in movies you couldn't pay me to watch.

Could just not be my taste and grunchin

lol c-vig. ramis's peak is ****ing amazing. either your taste in comedy is flat out terrible or you are massively overrating the present/**** you watched as a teenager (lol adam sandler #2).

Those are four good movies. I already said he didn't write one of them.

Back to School
Club Paradise
Armed and Dangerous
Caddyshack II
Ghostbusters II
Analyze This
Analyze That
Bedazzled
Year One

There's nine bad ones. I didn't put Meatballs and maybe Back to School is popular, granted not my taste.

But most of those movies are confirmed awful, and outweigh the good, and if you think otherwise, then your taste is in question, not mine

And as a director it's just as bad

The Analyze This/That series is terrible and he wrote and directed both

Then Bedazzled and Year One? This is a sketch comedy to be funny and successful now? Pretty clear Ramis has been clueless for decades
