You're just jelly cuz USA excels at a sport which most of it's population cares little to nothing about (albeit growing quite rapidly over the last 15 years or so). On the other hand, this is the #1 sport in your country and being basically even to a bit better than us really chaps you.

England's World Cup results are better, there world ranking is better and there players are better.

Your only arguement is that you finished ahead on goal difference in the group stage, not really an achievement and made funnier by you wasting your seeding the next round by losing to Ghana.

i think there is a flaw in the process when a #1 seed is contingent on them winning a game to qualify

Actually, if you read BAIDS posts over in the WC thread, you'd see he's recently just given up and adopted the American argument for why they're not better at soccer. You know:

"If it wasn't for our best athletes and coaches choosing Football/Basketball/Baseball over Soccer, we'd be kings of the world!" (Only substitute Cricket, Rugby and LOLRowing)

Spare us all the indignity of having to go dig up your posts from 2010 when the U.S. got seeded into a group with LOLENGLAND.

since none of you answered my question i had to look it up

since the 90's USA's world cup record

1990 - Lose all 3 group games
1994 - 2nd Round to Brazil
1998 - Lose all 3 group games
2002 - Qtf Final to Germany
2006 - Dont qualify from Group Stage
2010 - 2nd Round to Ghana

so 3 group stage exits, two 2nd round exits and one quarter final - that is far far worse than Englands record

Why don't you go all the way back go 1966 while you're at it?

USA getting all the haters mad, across borders, across oceans. Damn.

Current USA > England
Current USA > Mexico

Congrats. You have successfully proven that you used to be a better team.

Who cares how we fared in the 1990 WC? In 1990 it would have been a stretch to call the US a top 50 team. It's different now. Much different.

England is better, yes. They've got better talent, yes. Do they beat the US 7-8 times out of 10? Nope, and it's not close. A Closer estimate would be 4 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses. And that might be being nice.

Yeah, I think USA point expectation is without a doubt around 10 if they play 10 matches vs. England at full strength on a neutral venue.

yeah to be fair i'm not saying England are miles better so i kind of agree with this

the trouble with the american team is that you dont really have any world class players, or even top class players especially in attack - at the top level who is gonna score a goal out of nothing?

Don't know why people are sleeping on our attack. With the right players in the lineup, we are dangerous. We aren't going to flare you to death like Brazil, but we're gonna score.

Baffling to me, but somehow Landon Donovan is still underrated. Is it because he chose to spend the majority of his career here? It hasn't hurt him. He'd be an important player for more than half of the teams in the EPL(not going to speculate on which of the teams above that he would be, because it would take some real knowledge and research). People don't realize Jozy's potential either, and they don't even know what Aron is going to do to them yet. Our MFers are no jokes either.

really cant be bothered to argue any further on this........IIRC both teams were rubbish in the group stages, and both tanked the 2nd round games badly, there is no way either team can say that they peformed better than the other IMO.

but yeah pretend that Altidore, Dempsey etc pose more of a goal threat than Rooney, Sturridge etc if thats what you think.
