I'll take one of the top 2 teams in Pot 3 and 4 in exchange for Qatar.

It's pretty wild that 3 of the top 10 forwards in the world are in pot 3 too

Pot 1 is super weak, weakest ever?

Qatar, Argentina, Portugal are all solid draws
Spain is wishy-washy, England has a huge monkey on their back
Belgium never wins anything
Only France and Brazil are who you really want to avoid, and even then lolbrazil is always possible

You have so many posts praying for a weak draw, it's the only time you're honest with yourself of how good the USA squad actually is.

Spain isn't wishy washy lol, they were by far the best team at the Euros with their best player being 18.
Portugal imo have the best squad in world football, they haven't gelled bc lol Ronaldo, but wanting them is insane. Most well rounded team ITW.

Think this might be our seventh trip (?) since Canada last made it, so just getting there isn’t enough. Basically everyone hopes for an easier draw to increase odds of getting through, even the strong Pot 1 teams.

The goal shouldn't be to avoid anyone decent and get to the r16 though.

If you think this USA side is good, you should be aiming to try and beat other actually good teams and maybe target a Denmark like run.

The first goal is to get to the rd of 16. The next goal is the quarterfinals

You’ll meet the powerhouses soon enough. But the vast majority of teams in this competition are good teams so regardless of your draw it’s never a cakewalk.

But Denmark didn’t make a run through powerhouses in euro 2020.

They beat out Finland and Russia in group and then beat Wales and Czech in knockout

it doesn't make any sense LFC. as a UNC fan, you best believe i was rooting for Saint Peter's and not Purdue.

No one said this. No contender is thinking "man we want these minnows." It's small team mentality. It's fine to have, but at least admit it.

Is there a 1/8 chance to draw a team from each pot? Or are there other dynamics at play?

It's slightly different because of not being able to draw Canada/Mexico and the order of the draw. For example Canada has a 15.xx % chance of drawing Qatar and 11.xx% at the rest of pot 1. USA should be the same.

USA is youngest team based on age of playing minutes at 24.3. Next closest is Ecuador at 26.3.

Oldest are Peru and Costa Rica both very close to 30

Qatar might also have some “input” on who they want to play

Qatar also draws first so it does get worse if you brick them
