Amazing. This has to be the absolute lower bound of WIL.

oh they will

Christian won't McKennie won't, but the supporting cast will

and the other young pieces arent in place, so no reasonable expectation that they'll become something more than they've ever been as a collective unit.

Need evidence of that. The coach not including Sargent is a concern, but the impact his eventual inclusion and the inclusion that others provide, remains to be seen.

We have a bunch of young peripherally on-the-scene players in Europe apart from Puli, and a bunch of known past-their-expiry-date quantities. A markedly improved national team this does not make.

Adams is the best player on the team

Weah and Sargent will have hopefully played 2 full years from here

let's chill ok

priz probably goes to like u12 tournaments and sorts by winning because when you're developing something winning, even if repeatedly looking like dog**** against horrific competition, is a great sign for future success

no dude it's a one game elimination tourney that literally all that matters is winning one game at a time and I can't see these 5 games mattering for future success

You dummy, this is why we're complaining. They very well could have just lost to Curaçao.

We didn’t have the players to get more than a single goal against Curaçao. Who would be encouraged by this performance? Jamaica and Mexico, but who else?

Yes, but they didn't and it means nothing for the next game

My hope is that this is just a transition team and that in a couple years will get rid of the deadwood and end up with a younger, better team.

Of course, I've been hoping that for 20 years. Sigh.

The thing that is frustrating is that this is a B/C squad, but not even a young B/C squad. If you're gonna say "it's the Gold Cup, not that important, if we don't look like world beaters, don't panic", ok that's fine. But why not use 20, 21, 22 year olds? You know, guys who might actually help the team in 2022 and 2026. Instead we continue to trot out Michael ****in Bradley who is 31, Gyasi Zardes, who is 27 and will never amount to anything.

Any injuries to key players would be devastating.

So CURACAO just bossing the game vs a team that didnt qualify for the world cup in the easiest qualifying federation and format itw isnt concerning in anyway because we won? And is an actual sign of progress?

What players do you think did well? Who, from what you've seen since qualifying ended, are you excited about in 2022 and optimistic about being a positive contributor in the USMNT starting XI?

Do you think Curacao are encouraged by this result or their program is in shambles because they lost regardless of the way they played?

I've listed the possible best starting XI a few times and there's like 2 players from this team on it

Unfortunately most of our promising youngsters are in MLS playing against Curacao level talent week in week out. Not the best way to get better. It's great for Curacao though
