ernie is as good as gone, i reckon
which is actually kinda crazy considering he might end up with 4 out of 6 possible trophies won once his 2nd season at the helm is over

but then again, this was just as inexcusable as vs roma
you'd think that the man woulda learned from last year that going for that away goal from the get-go to kill the tie would actually be less risky than this cowardly approach, where he has his players sitting back defending and picking their noses halfheartedly while they are not suited for such thing at all, but nope

eta:
nothing to take away from pool (or roma for that matter) ofc, hell of a game from them

Yeah I wish we did that too.
Ya but they sold Phil for for much. Also ars have prob spent similarly total but have butchered outgoing sales and made many bad smaller purchases instead.

Yeah I wish we'd spent the Bale money on VVD and Keita equivalents and not Capoue, Chiriches and Soldado.

Couple thoughts, coming from a Liverpool fan:

1. Suarez should have not celebrated his goal at Camp Nou...he turned from a beloved former player (hero?) to a villain in a heartbeat. LFC players didn't care, but the fans at Anfield did.

2. Coutinho was a ghost...after first leg, was shocked he started second. Especially since Anfield had their knives out.

3. Barca doesn't play well against physical play...not their style. Same with Spain, which took 116 minutes to score against a thuggish Netherlands squad.

4. Origi caused real problems...I love the guy!

5. After the first leg, I told my son that we would need two miracles. Got one, now we just need Brighton to do something unexpected. Stranger things have happened...QPR almost did it 7 years ago!

And that's the wrinkle they've been better at identifying talent to fit their needs. Still had their missteps though.

1. I don't think Suarez celebration changed anything. Most Liverpool fans acknowledge how ****ing good he was and he almost single-handedly won us a title with a pretty mediocre side. Most Liverpool fans also know he was a huge **** that we loved when he was a **** for us and you hate when he is a **** for someone else.

2. That Dembele injury was big. Coutinho was a ghost. I wonder if Valverde felt compelled to play him because it was Liverpool at Anfield. He was **** and shouldn't have been out there.

3. Don't think the play was overly physical. Thought we bossed Barcelona at the Camp Nou (lol xG) and this result was always a reality today. Barcelona beyond Messi just aren't very good.

4. Divock Origi. Divock ****ing Origi. What a fella

5. The league isn't in our hands unfortunately. But as long as things are in our hands I'll never doubt this team.

I loved it, can't wait to watch the live reaction videos from all the fans that were already talking about celebrating the CL win and the treble at Cibeles, it will be glorious.

And as usual, it's Messi's phenomenal win at the Camp Nou (LÖL), but it's always Valverde's loss at Anfield.

Always someone else's fault, same thing when he plays with Argentina. He can score against Iran and Nigeria, but then it's someone else's fault when the tough gets going. Always with his head down, walking on the pitch. Keep on praising him for all the 4th and 5th goals when the league title is won since November, but never, ever criticize him for all those tough games he went completey missing, and this is what you'll always get. All the "Messi GOAT and LOL @ everyone comparing him to other players" with every little thing he does, has come to bite you in the ass, again.

But I get it in a way, Ronaldo destroyed his soul. Everything Messi wanted, Ronaldo won it when it seemed impossible. We were supposed to go down in flames when Mourinho left and it was supposed to take us years to bounce back. Ronaldo was about to finally leave RM, completely defeated. Ended up winning 4/5 CL titles and 4/5 Ballon d'Ors. Made it look easy. Even Modric won the BdO. Ronaldo won the Euros with the 8th favorite. I didn't even know Nani and Quaresma were still playing football.

While Messi got tooled on, year after year, after year. Cried on live television. Quit the national team in front of everyone. This was supposed to be his big year, FINALLY scoring against a good team in the CL, final v Ajax/Spurs, while RM are trying to rebuild again. Bayern, Juve, PSG, ATM, City out of the way. 3-0 in the first leg, JESUS CHRIST we're almost there!

But nah, he let you down again. Time to renew his contract I guess.

Ajax winning it would be amazing, same with Spurs, but I feel like Klopp deserves it more for these past 10 years or so. I feel like we're in for an insane final. So invite your friends over and make the most of it.

Coutinho has been rubbish since his move to Barca.

Happened last year in Rome too, manager has to take responsibility for that.

Messi can’t do everything himself, every single game he needs help. He’s virtually won the league on his own and almost won this tie on his own.

Just do not let Spurs get to the final. Please.

I do not trust Klopp with it. They have a tendency of losing those games, especially after magical performances like this one.

Right cmon Ajax and whoever wins it wins it. Pool deserves it for years now and Ajax would just be an utterly amazing story.

Spurs wont get to the final. Despite their MASSIVE FINANCIAL ADVANTAGE over ajax, they lack the necessary MAGIC to win a tie like this.
