The little nod he gives facing double match point down 3-5 in the 5th, like, it's ok guys I got this, is probably my favorite moment in a while.

I love how much support the NY crowd gave him. Then he laughs before the next match point. Just a kid having fun out there. He really handles pressure like nobody I've ever seen. Maybe Jordan.

lol be more of a homer. It could also be interpreted as "im in the **** here, might as well give it a smash" which is exactly what happened when his low percentage return sneaked into the court.

Q. Could you hit a much better serve for the return he hit that winner?

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, much better. I didn't hit the best serve. But it's just the way he returns that. It's just not -- a guy who believes much, you know, anymore in winning. Then to lose against someone like that, it's very disappointing, because you feel like he was mentally out of it already. Just gets the lucky shot at the end, and off you go.

Q. When a guy hits a shot like that forehand on match point, is that a function of luck, of risk, or is it a function of confidence that someone would make kind of...

ROGER FEDERER: Confidence? Are you kidding me? I mean, please. Look, some players grow up and play like that. I remember losing junior matches. Just being down 5 2 in the third, and they all just start slapping shots. It all goes in for some reason, because that's the kind of way they grew up playing when they were down. I never played that way. I believe in hard work's gonna pay off kinda thing, because early on maybe I didn't always work at my hardest. So for me, this is very hard to understand how can you play a shot like that on match point. But, look, maybe he's been doing it for 20 years, so for him it was very normal. You've got to ask him.
Wow, Fed usually seems so classy (usually in defeat too), but this just reeks of being bitter and pretty butthurt. Disappointing. Though he has complained quietly in the past about the style of play of opponents here and there, it's still really surprising to hear.

Could be wrong, but I can hardly remember anyone speaking like this about Fed after he defeats them.

I guess it makes sense that his fans on 2p2 have been trying to emulate their hero.

Athlete says something controversial an hour after losing epic match. What a shocker!

Hardly controversial. Djokovic threw a Hail Mary and hit it. That's why he's a ****ing boss.

it was cool that he ended up winning and everything but im pretty sure it was more of a "LOL really, im gonna lose this **** match somehow" type of look to me....i think he just said eff it i got nothing to lose at this point...I felt the same way and ended up losing alot of matches but i guess thats why im not the number one player in the world (or 1000)

more like he was nodding at the tennis gods for what they just did to him ..pretty common imo

They're both pretty insufferable. Serena more so than Venus.

that interview makes fed come off really bad but there is zero doubt at all that there is some truth to what he said. Whether he would have set it out loud 3 days after the match is up for debate

how bout what Djokovic said

"Djokovic did not exactly disagree.

"If it comes in, it comes in," he said. "It was a risk last year. It was a very similar situation. I was hitting [the] forehand as hard as I could. You're gambling.

"I was lucky today."

I kind of hope someone brings up this quote to him next time he hits one of those between-the-legs winners and expects everyone to be all over his nuts.
